Residence Gardens internet connection.

I have tried to search this but, there seems to be a problem with the facility (more likely something I am doing wrong).

Anyway, I hope to stay at the RG again next month. During my last stay in June I found using the internet shop next door a bit of a drama, what with the Queen who now owns it and having to wait for his ladyboy friends to finish talking to their boyfriends in Falangland on line. Nothing against anyone but, time spent hanging around there is time taken from other activities.

This trip I intend to bring along my ibook and get the email/internet stuff out of the way in the room. So, my question is, what experiences do BM's have of internet connections at the hotel and how much will it cost?

Thanks in advance.

As far as I can recall, there is a weekly charge of 600 baht for broadband or if you're staying longer 1,500 baht per month. When I was last there (mid June to mid July) I could only use broiadband initially from the balcony of my 5th floor room. However, by the time I checked out, I was able to use it in my room.

for_ard is right about the guy who now owns the internet cafe next door. He is one hell of a drama queen. :D

When I was at the RG in late August/Early September, I was paying 150bt per day for access.

Even with 802.11 built into my laptop, the hotel supplied a USB thumb network card to use. (They block out all MAC addresses except for the ones in the NIC's that they issue.) Along with the NIC, they gave out a CD for the drivers, and fairly accurate instructions on how to install them. I don't recall if the CD and instructions that they passed out included support for Mac systems.

I checked in on a Saturday, and had intermittent problems all weekend. I think all that needed to be done was to reset the main router at the hotel. (It wouldn't issue a DHCP address.) Come Monday, all the problems seemed to have resolved themselves.

I was in Room 502 during my stay, and had access throughout the room, as well as on the deck.
