Cabbages and Condoms resort

Recommended Posts

jonny,

It is directly opposite the Asia hotel so it is not a lot of hassle to get one of the baht buses that park outside the main entrance but you are looking at 60-100 Baht per trip for private hire into/from town. The hotel itself is great but I would probably only consider a two or three night stay as a change from being stuck in town or to chill out with a special TG.

Ive heard rave reviews about this place!

What a name though!!

Must be the most funny sounding resort in pattaya.

Anyone out there that can name a more funny sounding resort/hotel than Cabbages + Condoms?

Stayed here for 10 days with the GF just a few weeks back and loved it. Huge gardens, private beach, large balcony, Jacuzzi etc.

Here’s their web site with plenty of pics.

We had a sea view deluxe which cost 3200 baht including a great breakfast buffet for two. Many people come here just to dine and the Thai food is top notch. The restaurant is three-tiered and extends down to the beach or the sunset bar which caters to large dinner groups.

The name of this place put me off for years and even this time I had to tell the company I was staying at the Marriott. It’s owned by a prominent MP who does a lot of charity work for rural communities.

Although the majority of the clientele here is couples and families I did see the odd bloke with a working gal and there seemed to be no problem.

The location is a short 5-10 minute drive from Pattaya central (past the Residence Gardens, turn right at the Sugar Hut, turn left about 500 meters from there and drive to the end of the road) but you do have to charter baht buses and when they see you walking out of the resort ask for 150 and settle for 100. Not many alternative transport options apart from the suicidal bikes as the area has little traffic.

The hotel has a few drawbacks:

Two single beds joined together instead of a double.

Dial-up Internet that's painfully slow.

No direct dial calls from the room.

Western food (sandwiches, pasta) was sub-standard.

If you're into golf there's a driving range (Harold's) next door and the short Asia Hotel par-3 course across the road. There's other shops and bars out the front including a laundry and Free Drop, an Irish pub that offers ASDL Internet access.

If you like to be away from the madness of Pattaya by day, and close enough to party by night, the hotel is ideal, otherwise, considering what you're paying, you may enjoy the Marriott more.

Hope that helps. :D
