Hotels in Udon Thani

I'm hoping to pay a visit to Udon Thani for a short break during either February or March and am looking for recommendations on hotels there - up to maybe 1,200 baht or so per night. A pool is essential and the hotel must be guest friendly.

nice place, i drink there a lot ,its downtown aswell ,easy 5min walk to all the other bars near charoensri complex(mall)etc

yes Charoensri is the best,but,not very girl friendly,but u can get away with it..City Lodge also very good (300meters away from the irish/c),its just been sold to the isrih clock...city/l and irish no pool,but u can use other hotels in town for a small fee to use there pools..

I stayed at the Baan Chiang last year a couple of times.

 

I was paying 1300THB a night but it was booked by a local Thai which can sometimes push up the price (yes Thai's can get the double pricing)

 

Definately guest friendly with pool and gym etc - good wine cellar

I have stayed in Udon Thani several times over the last 6 years and usually stay at the Charoen Hotel. It may be habit, but It's reasonable standard, good pool, great restaurant open very late and the popular "Yellow Bird" nightclub attached to the rear is always worth a visit if you like loud and live music. Staff always helpful and price under 1,000 per night.

I have stayed at Baan Chiang which was much higher standard, huge pool (but used by "outsiders" too) lovely room but I was not as comfortable or relaxed due to the more "upmarket atmosphere" and considerably more expensive than Charoen.
