Hi guys

I have two problems/questions to ask you being as this computer business is still relitively new to me and without help will remain so.

Firstly how do I get my computer to "Play that little jingle that announces the arrival of an E-mail " no matter what task I may be performing.

Secondly in the bottom right hand corner there appears an icon amongst others that announces that a "local area connection 2 network cable unplugged" can somebody please tell me what this in fact means and what I have to do to rectify this "fault" if any.

Thanks in anticipation.

If you are able to surf the internet while you have the network cable unplugged message then you don't need to do anything other than disable that message. If you are not able to surf the internet then this message is telling you your connection is down.

You can turn that icon on or off by doing the following if you use Microsoft Windows.

1. on your desktop right click on "my network places" (or something that says network in the name) and select properties. You will see one or more line items that say "local area connection"

2. Right click on one of those line items and select properties

3. At the bottom of the screen the pops up is a box you can check or uncheck to show that icon in the taskbar when connected.

As to getting an email alert by sound it would depend on the email program you are using. You can look around in options or settings and see if you can find something to turn on sounds.
