xmas 2006 flight

Recommended Posts

Hi

I'm currently thinking of coming over for xmas after many low season trips. Fuck me the flights are expensive.

So far the best price I can see for direct flights is £792 on Thai. (out from LHR on 22nd December, returning on 2nd January).

I don't want indirect flights, even though I can get Turkish for about £250 less so, before I book it, does anyone know of a better deal at the moment? Or would it be worth waiting in the hope some cheaper seats come up later?

Advice appreciated

Cheers

I am not from the UK grs90...but from what you have described and my own experiences booking flights to and from the US to Asia, given the month that you are planning your trip. Wait for a good sale price. You can book later in the year.

One suggestion, is to regularly check the consolidators and the airline websites for monthly deals. You will eventually hit paydirt. Even as far out as after September, prices drop down dramatically since this is slow season. Don't you worry booking this early, I can see a better deal down the line. :grin

grs90,

Unless there is some future major event in the works that is likely to impact tourism in LOS I would be inclined to take the best price you can find as soon as you are 100% certain of your dates. All that can happen beyond that is:

1. Seats become available at cheaper prices.

2. Seats become available at more expensive prices.

3. Seats become booked up and are unavailable.

To see what the likely outcome is you only have to read the posts from previous years to see guys scratching around in October and November for flights at Xmas and paying silly money to fly on the likes of China Eastern, Uzbekhistan Airlines, Phuket Airlines and Aeroflot. Bear in mind that December is also the peak season for all those folks visiting Oz/NZ from UK (they tend to book a lot further in advance than your average monger) and the Asian feeder flights become heavily booked very early for the dates you mention.

I've gone in the last 3 years in Dec and prices have not come down especially with a direct flight, they will more than likely fill up fairly quickly and you will end up paying similar or more for a flight with a stop along the way, I'll be booking my xmas flight in May after I return from my April trip. I'll just need to finalise dates first
