There is no 3G to speak of in Thailand. There are tiny pockets of it in Bangkok and Chiang Mai last I heard - but it's testing and it's very restricted.

And there isn't going to be any wide 3G service in Thailand for a very long time, either.

Not any more. They were arguing about that, but they've gone backwards. Of course that's what it's all about.

I have just got a smartphone in UK on the 3 network, it needs unlocking to use in Thailand.

Does anyone know what sort of 3g pay as you go deals are available in Los ?

Thanks

As said by the other posters there is only limited 3G available.

If you go to the AIS, DTAC or True websites they have the various packages available on there.

The 3 network in the UK make their phones very difficult to unlock are you sure the model you have can be unlocked ?

Regards

Nothing with AIS - As far as I'm aware the only 3G in Pattaya is in Central Festival on True.

I have GPRS with AIS pay 650b a month for unlimited internet and it's adequate most of the time.

However if i want a fast refresh on Betfair I can kiss goodbye Thailand will get 3G when the rest of the world are on 5G

It's all about the men in suits making sure they get their pound of flesh before Thailand is dragged kicking and screaming to the 21st Century.

It's probably a better bet that Thailand will get 6G when most are on 5G. That's the way it usually happens in Thailand. It's like the military, long waits interspersed with the occasional frantic burst of activity. Thailand usually doesn't play catch-up, it plays go-ahead, THEN it just sits there and sits there.
