Phuket and Samui hotels?

Recommended Posts

Looking for hotel recommendations for Phuket and Samui.  I’m looking for something comparable to say the Flipper in Pattaya.  Must be clean, guest friendly, and very close to the action.  I’ve checked the reviews and nothing really stands out.  7 weeks until my 4th LOS trip!  Thanks in advance.

Accomodation in Phuket and Samui is generally more expensive than Pattaya.

You could try the Swiss Garden hotel in Patong (about 950 baht) but about 15 mins walk to the beach or theres one called the Siam Palm where they used to advertise "no guest charge."

In Samui at Chaweng theres the Beachcomber and Chaweng Gardens both situated near the beach and nightlife but not sure about a guest charge.

As for Phuket?  There are a bunch of places at Patong Beach close to the action (Bangla Road).  Plan on paying at least 1000 Baht, perhaps as much as 1500.  C&N Hotel is OK.  Also, try Tropica Bungalows (book a double).  There are also some smaller cheaper places.  For example, look up the Smile Inn, if it's still there.  some of the more expensive hotels might want an expensive joiner fee.

I would agree with Rex7777, I always stay at Tropica Bungalows. Its literally just around the corner from Soi Bangla and when you walk down the alley to the area you would think your 100 miles from the rat race. There are actually peacocks walking around a rain forest setting with a great pool. Its really hard to believe its where it is. Indeed do book a double there is a fee without it.

Hi, Dennism. I like the look of the Tropica Bungalows. Can you give me an idea what sort of price I could expect for a double (walk-in) for a week in early April? Thanks. I used to regularly take a bungalow at the Duangjitt Resort until they pissed me off by insisting I'd only booked (and paid up-front for) a single and demanded a 1,000 Baht joiner. They even started charging for the drinking water. Strange way to treat a loyal customer, especially when the hotel was half-empty. [smiley=banghead.gif]
