Visa run to Myanmar

Recommended Posts

This is an easy run from BKK and does not require a whole page visa like Cambodia (just a normal entry/exit stamp)

Downside = It is a long day as it leaves at 0930 and you are usually back to BKK about 2000

Bus is usually full, so you need to make a reservation before

Seems to be a good alternative to the Cambodia run. 2000 Baht for a decent seat on a big bus and not much difference in overall time spent.

Is anybody offering Pattaya to Myanmar?

Paps

Not that I know of, this company (English/Thai), seems to have the connections. The border time is about 45 mins total.

Bus is big, A/C is cool, they do stop 1 time on each part of the trip (to/from)

They do show a dvd each way to breakup the boredom.

You could go to the airport, get the sky train to Phaya Thai (end of the line), transfer there to Ekkamai (84 Baht), walk down the steps and look for a Honda dealership as the meeting place is right beside it.

Trying to get into/from Sukhumvit can be a real pain, so getting a taxi to/from the airport is easier for anyone coming/going to Pattaya. I did the sky train myself from the airport area, it was very easy.

The border is somewhat regulated, you can pay for an overstay, but it seemed easier than the full page deal in Cambodia

Not much at the border, shops are being built, no kids will hassle you or beg for money

No 4x6 photo is required and they fill out part of your departure paperwork (white card attached to your passport) in Thai for you

Having your address in Thai is very helpful to them.

What's the names of the places either side of the border?

Edit: I mean the names of the towns (before Atlas2 chimes in with Thailand and Myanmar).

Kanchanaburi - Ban Phu Nam Ron

Really? I have been meaning to visit Kanchanaburi. You think it is possible to get to the border from there for visa purposes by some other means?

Also, what does the Myanmar visa cost?

Do a google search on the run, as it has been done by some

There is no visa for Myanmar on a border run, I got a stamp (Thai exit), then got into a van to travel 2.5 KM

Crossed the border, came upon a small village and Myanmar immigration

The company took the passports in, we waited 10 mins and loaded back into the van (entry/exit stamps from Myanmar)

Down the road in the same van, for a 2.5 KM ride to Thai immigration.I got the entry stamp (30 days)

Into the bus and back to BKK

Just stamps, no visa like Cambodia
