Hong Kong Airport....Any suggestions?

Recommended Posts

I will be stuck at the Hong Kong Airport for about 5 hours.  Any suggestion of what I can do there?  I am flying Cathay Air ...cheap seats :-/.  Are there any Shower rooms there like Tokyo airport?  If so does any one know where and how much?  Thanks..This is a great site and Pattaya is a great place! ;)! :D  I am looking forward to having a few at the FLB Bar. ::)

I've been through Hong Kong my last two trips, they have a pretty good web page ( http://www.hkairport.com/ ) which I only discovered _after_ my most recent flight, and there's also another guide site at:

http://www.hong-kong-hkg.com/

I seem to recall reading about shower rooms, but didn't see either those or any western-style food outlets on either of my prior trips.   Also, be careful about time -- it is a BIG airport, and the walk between the low-number gates and the high-number gates can take a long while. (OK, not much compared to five hours.)

You can get to Kowloon or Hong Kong island in about half an hour on the train. The cost is about HKD 180 return.

As you have about 5 hours and will have only hand luggage, this might be a viable alternative. Sure you can eat in the airport quite well but if you have never been to the area, you could have a couple of hours for sure.

Maybe get off at Tsim Sha Tsui, have a look around, walk back across near the Peninsular hoitel, get the 5 Star ferry across to HK island and head back towards the airport from say Hong Kong station. Of course, get some food on the way.

U.S. or Hong Kong Dollar..... ??? I just checked .  It is U.S.  dollars.  Perhaps a bit expensive but will be a good chance to clean up after a long trip.  A short trip around Hong Kong sounds very enticing but I would hate to miss my connection.  If I had more time I would have try to stay over a couple of days in Hong Kong to do some sightseeing.  Thanks for the info/suggestions.

??? Don't take it as "gospel", but last time I was "transitting" through Hong Kong, they would not let me leave the airport (UK passport). Twelve hours to waste  [smiley=thumbdown.gif]. I did have luggage tho', so that could have been the deciding factor.
