Any recomendations for flights from Tampa?orlando

Recommended Posts

Hi everyone,

A friend and I are planning a trip to Pattaya from May 15 to May31 and we need to book a flight soon. Can anyone recommend an Airline or agent that can book for us from central Florida? I have looked at EVA from LAX but to get there I have to take a Delta flight that arrives about 2 1/2 hours before Eva leaves so if I book it myself I will be pushing it to get from Delta to EVA check-in (they recommend 3 hrs early on international flights). I have decided to save some time by using carry-ons instead of checking baggage but it would be ALOT easier if I could book from Tampa or Orlando to BKK.

Thanks everyone, I have been lurking since Winston was on but haven't had anything to ad so I am looking forward to changing all that!

jte,

I just checked on Northwest Airlines (www.nwa.com) website leaving on May 15th, with a return on May 31st. They show a few options from Orlando to Bangkok R/T for $1099.40. That isn't realy a bad price from the East coast to Thailand. They don't show any specials right now for flights in May.

Flying from Texas, I have the same problem. There are great fares from the West coast to Thailand, but I would also need to book a flight from Houston to the coast.  Once you add the two together, the price get to high. For some reason your first flight is delayed, you could loose your ticket on the next, by not booking the complete trip on one airline.

Hope this helps a little.

jte,

I always try to book on Northwest too and do my booking through AngleTravel:

I started using them after seeing a recommendation of their service on this board and have never had a complaint. Check out their site and shoot an email off to Ann. She is a Thai living in Chicago and has always taken good care of my needs.

I use the route you mention from Tampa, getting into LAX on Delta around 10pm, then catch the 1:20 am EVA flight to TPE/BKK.  You'll have no problem...the Delta terminal at LAX is the closest to the International terminal.   When you exit the Delta terminal, simply turn left and walk about 300 yards to the international terminal.    Checking baggage isn't the real problem, its the security checkpoint where the real bottlenecks occur.  They won't let you into the departure area more than a couple hours before your flight time, so an earlier arrival doesn't buy you much.

I heartily endorse Angel Travel...very reliable.   DO pay the extra for EVA Economy Deluxe...its well worth it.   It's also much better arriving in BKK at noon than at midnight!

Thanks Guys!

I am in contact with Ann at AngleTravel trying to get booked . She is recommending Northwest at this time but.... I do like the fact that EVA gets there at Noon instead of Midnight. The flight on NW is a little over $900 but I have seen trips from 24 to over 40 hours...YIKES!!

Like I said I will most likely just use carry-ons to save the trouble and I would think that I would have to book the flight as a complete trip to get Delta to transfere baggage.

I will let you know and I will hope to meet some of you when we make it.

You don't have to book a complete trip for Delta to transfer your luggage. You only need the EVA ticket when you arrive at the Delta counter.

Thnks everyone,

We booked a flight with United from Orlando to Bangkok for $716 through Tokoyo and will be arriving on the 18th (late).

Bigdude,

I didn't realize that Delta would check your bags through if I just showed them my ticket for EVA, thanks for the heads-up!

Look forward to meeting and hopefully prowling with the resident experts SOON after arriving!

Try and get your seat on the left side of the plane closest to the door and hustle your butt up to immigration and beat the crowd ;D. I usally clear the airport in 35 minutes. Good duty free shop in the baggage area. Money changing machine in baggage area, good rates.
