Hi,

Just been offered a very cheap flight in April from Manchester UK to BKK via Singapore, slightly longer flight but much much cheaper than Emirates.

Anyone had any experience of flying with Singapore, heard the stopover might be worthwhile for some Duty Free shopping, anyone any comments.

Many thanks

Pat

Hey Pat,

Fly with Singapore all the time from Australia...excellent airline...never have a problem...good in flight service...and their fares are cheap.  As for Singapore...only in transit...some good duty free in the terminal...purchased a memory card for my digital camera...AUD$95 same card in Australia AUD$140.

Singapore v Dubai for transit. Very little to choose between the two, Dubai may actually be better value (especially if you are a smoker !).

Emirates win hands down on the seating arrangement for the Man-Dubai leg, similar standard as Singapore for Dubai-Bkk leg. That is if you are flying "cattle class".

If you are flying buisness class, then Singapore flights are ever so slightly better.

NB China or EVA are about best value from Manchester. China £400  (cattle), £720 (buisness, special offer), EVA £580 (evergreen deluxe)(not sure on cattle class price, never use it).

??? Now should that be "Boom Boom"  (benefit of the doubt for the moment)

My travel company has come back to me and offred me an even cheaper flight treveling from Manchester to Bangkok with Qatar Arirawys changing in Dohar.

So what do you guys think if this airline, I understand it leave at 10ish in the morning as well so it not a night time flight so you end up arriving in BKK in the early morning.

Any comments would be welcome.

I once had luggage delayed on my way back to Edinburgh from Bali. I'm not sure where it got delayed about as my journey back involved no fewer than four flights - Bali - Jakarta - Singapore - Heathrow - Edinburgh. I can't be certain, but I suspect the delay may have been in Singapore and that was with at least 2 1/2 hours between the flights. The other possibility is that it got delayed at Heathrow where the connection time was nearer 1 1/2 hours.

By the way, I found the airport at Singapore to be a great place to hang out between flights - much better than Heathrow or Amsterdam.

I have just used SQ for a visa run 3days/2 nights hotel & transfers in Singapore from BKK at 7800 Baht. Excellent. Singapore is the cheapest air fare for any foreign destination from BKK this includes PP PEN and KUL makes a nice change from buses to Cambodia.

stevoh.
