Tried the change directory one and inserted downloads and /downloads and //downloads and downloads and downloads and ..downloads and all say directory does not exist ???

I am really a=not an ftp user as you may have gathered so please guide me on this one.

After you are logged in, send these commands:

cd download

dir

bin

get ThaiLangTape1SideA.mp3

...

You may want to try a different ftp client.

The standard windows ftp client works well enough for this.  To use it:

Click on Start, Run, then type: ftp 209... and login.

You would use the same commands but you will want to add a local directory command:

cd download

lcd c:

dir

bin

get ThaiLangTape1SideA.mp3

...

The lcd c: command will dump the files into the root of your c drive.  You could also specify a directory on the c drive:  lcd c:temp

See if that works...

Cheers Ghost.  The raw Windows FTP software worked okay once I had sorted out my firewall, but still the SmartFTP program would not allow me to send commands to your server although I could log in.

Anyway got the Tape1SideA file now thank you and will download the others as and when I am next online.  Many thanks Ghost,  [smiley=cheers.gif] so now I have no excuse not to be able to speak fluent Thai by the end of next week  [smiley=uh-uh.gif]

  • 2 weeks later...

Ghost well I did download from your ftp server Tape 1 Side A and B but today went to get Tape 2 and the ftp server cannot be found.  Is it down now or on a different IP address?

Would be nice to get Tape 2 as well though haven't even started my course yet, will likely have to wait till I retire shortly.
