Hi,

Just booked a couple of tickets with EVA for Jan. 2005, for 42days, for my mates.

Price was £457 + taxes. this is Man. Heathrow, BKK. I checked the price from Heathrow and it was £437 + taxes, which leaving from the I.O.M. is to much hassle. The plane is a 74E and leaves Heathrow at 2130Hrs and arrives in BKK at 1556Hrs.

The booking was made on "Airline Network"

Cheers Doug.

Just warn your mates that any hold luggage will probably miss the LHR- Manchester connection (which is a bit tight), on the return trip, even if the BKK/LHR is on time nowadays! Not too much of a problem if you live on the mainland, as they deliver your case to your home on the next day, but not too sure how that would pan out for IOM.

  • 2 weeks later...

with regard to eva off loading bags on landing

they must be reasonably quick

I flew back from BKK via LHR and caught the last BMI shuttle back to Belfast

had just over i hour from landing to boardig of shuttle

ever other time i had this sort of wait the bags followed on later

I was actually surprised when my baggage appeared in Belfast

so thanks Eva Air

PS the food stinks - pot noodle is not a meal !

but the stewardesses are really hot !

Eltilza,

The problems with misconecting baggage ex Eva at LHR is due in part to Air Canada's staff cutbacks at this station.

Up to last year they had 3 men to meet and unload the baggage including the connectiions. This was reduced to 2 men, the London baggage has priority- first and last bags times are handed to Eva staff with a Stewards Enquiry if it is longer than standard. So sometimes, if there is a lot of local baggage, the through bags get delayed. I'll pass your thanks to the lads who got your bag across in time, when I see them for a pint. I uesd to work in the transfer area, but now gratefully retired. :)

Hi,

Thanks a lot for your help, I informed my friends off the baggage problems.

The time off arrivel at LHR and departure to MAN is over one and a half hours so they might be lucky as they are booked through to MAN and will not have to wait to pick up there baggage at LHR.

Cheers Doug.

Ah, that explains it then. My bags have only made the connection thru to Manchester once in the last 6 trips with EVA, I think. As I said before though, no big deal for me as they just deliver to the door next day. Going on the priorities you quote ther, it might be better for some to not book the luggage through to Manchester, and collect (then lug it through) Heathrow; They always offer that option at Bangkok when checking in.
