Hank08, I emailed the Ma Masion and they were full that week. Sandy Spring only had a suite available for 2800 baht. I did book a room at the VC hotel http://www.thaiwaysmagazine.com/pattaya_ho...l/vc_hotel.html They had a junior room for 850 baht with the new years eve dinner for 500 baht per person. Good luck and do not wait too long! Jim

Thanks Iwan, I don't think that I will have much choice in rooms this time, but since I am planning a return trip in late March with a newbie I will try to book a room in the new section. I hope that it will be ok at least. It's got to be better than fighting the traffic new years eve! Jim

Has anyone stayed at this hotel? I am planning to stay at the roof garden during my new years trip, but I have made reservations at the VC for Dec. 31 and Jan. 1 so I do not have to fight the traffic that other board members have warned about New Years Eve. I have a friend that has seen the lobby area and said that it looks like a decent place. Thanks Jim

Wobbly_1 Thanks for your reply. I was already in Pattaya when you posted it and did not check the board until I got back. I posted a short trip report about the Jomtin fishing park on the members board. I hope you will add some pics to it. Thanks again Jim

Party Animal, The bonus depends on how many miles you FLY in a calendar year Once you have flown 25000 miles you get a 25% bonus and after you fly 50,000 you get a 100% bonus. That means next year I'll get over 40,000 miles per trip!( I am taking 1 more trip this year from the end of December 'till the 11th of Jan. ). This trip ( just finished dammit!) I was able to request and get (out of 6 segments) 2 emergency exit and 1 economy plus seat. I have just earned over 25000 miles (49000 for 2 trips but who's counting!) and can now book the economy plus seats at the lowest price. Jim

Hi Guys, Can anyone give me some info about the fishing parks around the Pattaya/Jomtien area. I have not been to any of them but have read about the "Jomtien fishing park", the "Panarak Park" and the "Soi 3 Fishing Park", On the web (and a nice intro to the "Jomtien fishing park" by Leadbelly, on the board). We all know that sometimes things look better on web-sites than in real life so.... If anyone has any real life experience that they wouldn't mind sharing I would welcome it. I will be in Pattaya next week and would like to try out one or more of these places. Thanks Jim

Fishingtime, Here is my flight from SFO to BKKas shown on my E-ticket. The plane does stop in NRT and keeps the same flight number: United Airlines 837 Boeing 747-400 San Francisco, CA (SFO) Mon Dec 29 11:30 am Bangkok, Thailand (BKK) Tue Dec 30 11:25 pm 7924 52K Coach Confirmed Jim PS 7942 is the Miles and 52k Is my seat number.

Soi7 I did the same search on the United site and the price was $756.40. I am flying to Bkk Dec 29 and the search showed what I thought was a non-stop flight to Bkk from SFO but when I ticketed it it showed a stop in NRT. The same flight number is used and you have the same seat assignment for both legs of the trip. I am coming from Orlando Fla through SFO. This trip will put me over 50,000 miles on united this year so next year I will get 100% milage bonus. My trips will then be worth 40.000 miles each! Do you still get Frequent flyer miles through the site you mentioned? Jim

Daz, Try the Roof Garden Inn, http://www.roofgardeninn.com/ , not far from the Residence Garden on the oppisite side of the road. The cost is 750 Bhat, and they don't have the "required " party that some do at 2500+ bhat. It's a little out of the way but with bhat busses running it's not too bad. I will be staying there over New Years. Jim

Phil, Not that I would mind a beer or three after that journey We were thinking of getting a Thai-Limo out of the airport to Pattaya. Yes we are flying on the same flight. We will be flying to Tokyo from Chicago. Maybe we will see you in Tokyo whilst waiting.

Thnks everyone, We booked a flight with United from Orlando to Bangkok for $716 through Tokoyo and will be arriving on the 18th (late). Bigdude, I didn't realize that Delta would check your bags through if I just showed them my ticket for EVA, thanks for the heads-up! Look forward to meeting and hopefully prowling with the resident experts SOON after arriving! Jim

Thanks Guys! I am in contact with Ann at AngleTravel trying to get booked . She is recommending Northwest at this time but.... I do like the fact that EVA gets there at Noon instead of Midnight. The flight on NW is a little over $900 but I have seen trips from 24 to over 40 hours...YIKES!! Like I said I will most likely just use carry-ons to save the trouble and I would think that I would have to book the flight as a complete trip to get Delta to transfere baggage. I will let you know and I will hope to meet some of you when we make it. Jim

Hi everyone, A friend and I are planning a trip to Pattaya from May 15 to May31 and we need to book a flight soon. Can anyone recommend an Airline or agent that can book for us from central Florida? I have looked at EVA from LAX but to get there I have to take a Delta flight that arrives about 2 1/2 hours before Eva leaves so if I book it myself I will be pushing it to get from Delta to EVA check-in (they recommend 3 hrs early on international flights). I have decided to save some time by using carry-ons instead of checking baggage but it would be ALOT easier if I could book from Tampa or Or

Do any of you guys know the approximate dates for Cobra Gold? A friend and I were hoping to be there in May.
