We are a group of tennis players who either live in Pattaya or visit on a regular basis. We play at the Pattaya Tennis Inter Club east of Sukhumwit located at the Google Map coordinates below. On the map you can see a dirt road parallel to a paved road which goes through the middle of a housing development and dead ends. You turn left off the main road onto this dirt road and drive down to the courts on your left. It’s a bit of a drive, but these courts are worth it, IMO. You will only find courts of this caliber at the most expensive hotels. Most courts in Pattaya have a smooth or slightly rough surface which makes for a very fast court. These courts have been properly constructed with a good amount of sand to make for slower courts and they are a pleasure to play on. There are currently 5 inline, regulation courts with plenty of room to run. There are also two different shower facilities, massage services, a weight room and a small swimming pool. The courts are only about two years old. They are ITF certified and hosted their first ITF tournament in February of this year. With a group of 8 people the monthly membership fee is 1,000 baht. If you join alone the fee is 1,500/mo. At this time membership is low enough that booking a court is not necessary. This means when you play you have no time limit unless someone is waiting and to date that has not happened. If you want to take 3 hours to play 3 sets then have at it. I think it's a couple years old. The mileage and how it's been taken care of IMO counts the most, by far, and the other things I specified. Of course, if it were 6 years old that would be a different story, but it's not. I've also given the trade-in value so that should pretty much say it all. Of course, I could be lying, but I'm not. I got that trade-in price today at the Honda dealer across from Tuk.Com.

My girlfriend and I are looking for a bank or financial institution to loan 1.5 million after we put 2 million down for a pristine, beautifully landscaped house with almost 1/2 rai of land in Chiang Mai. It's obvious to me or almost anyone that the bank would not only "not lose money", they would make a good profit if the person getting the loan could not make the payment. And yet they still insist on asking about income and this and that. My girl makes good money (21,400/mo), but has no wage slip to show because it's under the table, but she can show regular deposits over 3 years. She has a car in both our names, but I don't see what that has to do with anything, yet it was asked about. She has a fully owned motorcycle in her name and land in her name alone and land in both her and her fathers name. Again, I don't know what any of that has to do with anything, since the house is far more than enough collateral for the 1.5m we are asking for. It seems to me you must work for the government in this country and then loans are virtually thrown at you. I have the full 3.5m, but it would lower my liquid assets to an unexceptionable low level, in case of emergencies. I assume banks would ignore any income I have because I'm not her husband and naturally the house needs to be bought in her name. Anyone know any banks that can recognize a good deal when they see one or has a manager with half a brain? Or any other suggestions.

I know Tequila Reef has or had a Thanksgiving dinner buffet and Bob's BBQ use to have one, but alas, Bob's BBQ is no more. I'm also told a restaurant on Soi 17 off 3rd road called Tigglebitties has a dinner (not a buffet). I would like to know of any other restaurants doing a really nice Thanksgiving buffet. I prefer a buffet over a dinner. Also, please give your opinion of the buffet; taste, variety, etc. The one year I ate at Tequila Reef they got cheap by not offering up their pumpkin pie as part of the buffet. Getting cheap on the pumpkin pie just stuck in my craw and I've never forgotten it. Everyone only got one piece of pie. Other than that I felt their buffet was good. I missed out on Thanksgiving dinner last year because I waited too long to make my reservations. Thanks for any information you can provide. Randy

In the last three months I have come up with the need for a machine shop. Today it would have been very convenient to find one, but I couldn't find anyone (Thai) who even seemed to understand the concept. Does anyone know where I can find a Machine Shop in Pattaya? In both circumstances I just needed a simple metal piece to be fabricated. Randy

Thanks so much for the replies gentlemen. One more question. I posted this question on another board and it sure sounds like there are some things that could come back to bite me at an auction so do you think it a wise move to buy a used bike at an auction or just buy a used one from a good dealer in town? If the answer is a good dealer then do you have a recommendation for a good dealer? Randy BTW, on the other board one BM posted pictures of the Theparsit Auction. It starts at 1700 every Friday.

Hello Expats, On my last trip I met someone who told me he bought his motorbike at an auction at Big "C" on Sukhumwit by Pattaya Tai. Today I took a ride out there to ask when the next auction would be. My lady helped me ask and it seems there is an auction that is held for three days each month, but we could find noone to tell us when. Is there anyone who knows about this auction and how to find out when it is held? Thanks Randy
