  1. "I've stayed in the Eastiny Soi 7 a couple of times. It's ok but nothing special. You get what you pay for I guess." I was also looking for a hotel in this area and was considering Eastiny on soi 7...any pros and cons to share? Was just wondering if it was noisy and the conditions of the rooms...found a previous post while searching but that was over a year ago. Thanks. ~pax
  2. When I was there, I stayed at the Khon Kaen Hotel, but there are many other nicer places--just have to decide on how much you are willing to spend. There is a website with a page on the hotels (http://www.khonkaen.com/english/hotels/) and other info on Khon Kaen. I would agree that it is better to make arrangements ahead of time, but I found that you could get better deals by speaking to the hotels directly instead of going through an internet service like hotelthailand.com. Hope this helps... ~pax
  3. I stayed at the Khon Kaen Hotel (not to be confused with the Khon Kaen Inn) on my recent visit there (Oct. '03), was adequate but on the second night, my room got invaded by ants! (millions of them--the candies I brought to give away were attracting them like a magnet). Cost was only 450B/night. If you are willing to spend more, the Softiel is nice and most of the night entertainment is near there. I visited this hotel to use their travel agency, but didn't have a chance to see the rooms--almost a guarantee that they are a lot better than the Khon Kaen Hotel. ~pax
  4. Haven't been to Penthouse, but from some of the reviews of this place it seems that your money would be better spent at other hotels. Been going to Flipper for the past few years now--very accomodating staff, never had problems with bringing back guests. They will ask the girl to register at the guard's desk near the elevator. Once a girl I brought up didn't have her ID card, but the guard just asked me to sign the register. They also call your room when the girl leaves to make sure everything was ok. As far as its proximity to the night life, its surrounded by beer bars and a stones thro
  5. My experience with regard to ATM, TC: When cashing TC, there is a flat fee charged per check cashed, therefore, it might be better to have large denominations--the same charge will apply if you cash a $20 TC or a $100 TC. Friends of mine have also experienced problems trying to cash Visa TC vs Amer. Express. There are many ATM's around Pattaya, some may not accept your card and/or code. Also depending on your bank, there may be an additional charge for withdrawing funds from the ATM. This is also usually a flat fee per transaction. I usually bring some travellers checks and use ATM
  6. If you are used to having all the features on the DVD, you might not get them all when purchasing these copies. I purchased some in MBK and found that much of the features were not available. ~pax
