Thanks for the replies. A li'l background here. My (more-or-less) usual hotel for past many many visits had informed they can provide room only till 28th. So I was on lookout for Dec28-Jan02. This being a peak-peak period I was concerned. My hotel has eventually confirmed room for my entire stay. I am still exploring some options as (a) to have couple of alternatives, as in absence of that once in Patts I don't ever explore any places and next visit again inquire same hotel (b ) from past few years exp, I know @X'mas and later, the beach road gets very busy and vehicles get stuck in the traff

Just wanted to request information from folks on following for preferred hotels - Preferences : Wifi, balcony (unfortunately i have habit of smoking, which increases while in LoS so would really prefer one), in-room safe, bathtub. Would really look for hotels having Wifi and balcony as a requirement. Preferred area - between beach rd and 2nd road. Of course, this being peak period availability would be main concern! But I would like to get some names first to explore.. Thanks in advance.

Great update Baz. You seem to have covered a lot of ground in few days in Patts when will you give updates/photos on Soi8 onwards and WS ? :-) Should be in town in less than a month (hopefully)..

My heart says Barca but my head says ManU. And yes, even I would hate if United win. The thing is, if you can kill the creative play by Barca you can win, as Inter showed in last year's CL semi's (and Real almost succeeded this year in 1st leg, but for two flashes of brilliance from Messi).

Anyone stayed at Hotel President Palace or Grand President, on Sukhumvit soi 11, Bangkok? If yes, would appreciate any feedback on the same, good/bad. Thanks.

Thanks for the info. I have stayed with their Sabai Wing many times. I don't recall now, but I guess I could control the temperature in the room. On another thought, may be they have same all-in-one box in all Sabai establishments. In that case, this tip would help when I land there in 2 weeks time.

Requirements: - safe in room - bath tub - not more than 1400/1500 B/night - strongly prefer a balcony - preferred location soi1 to soi8 I have usually stayed at Sabai Wing/Sabai Lodge in Soi1/2 and the area kind of suits me.. especially around bigC. However, was thinking if I could stay at some other hotel in next trip. Would appreciate any good recommendations or your feedback on where you might have stayed..
