  2. Hi All I know this reminder is late (!) but 12 August is H.M. Queen Sirikit's Birthday, and therefore it's Mother's Day in Thailand ! It's expected for children (and adults!) to give their Mother a gift on this day. Traditionally the gift is flowers - a Garland, Bouquet or Plant for example. You can choose from a great range of beautiful flowers at Isan Flowers (we also sell helium Floating Balloons and lots of other gifts). We're centrally located - just off Soi Buakhao. And we can deliver to the main Pattaya area! Example pictures can be seen on our website & there's map there too - www.isanflowers.com. (Unfortunately it's too late to order via our website) Visit our shop today (12 August) and pick something nice for either ... - you and/or your wife/girlfriend to give to your Mother/Mother-in-law - your wife's/girlfriend's children to give to her (I am based in the UK, but Rin and our staff will treat you right) At Your Service Simon & Rin Isan Flowers
  3. Hi All Save Money on your Valentine Flowers & Gifts (Soft Toys, Balloons, etc) this year at either our Isan Flowers Shop (just off Soi Buakaow - map) or our Website - www.isanflowers.com Valentine's Day is of course a very important date in any girlfriend's or wife's calendar. It's a time when the gifts you choose for her (and also When, Where and How you give them) can either win you lots of 'brownie points' with her, or put you 'in the doghouse' ! - Roses (red) are the traditional St Valentine's Day gift. We have a great range of imported Chinese (Premium, Luxury) Rose products and (much cheaper but still beautiful) Thai Rose products. Girls will be most impressed by the Chinese ones. I strongly recommend you read our Advice page before you decide what to do - good information there about flower colours, types, delivery strategies, etc Worried About the Cost? Don't be - with Isan Flowers, you don't have to pay the very high, inflated internet prices for flowers and flower delivery to Pattaya that many of the national and international networks charge you! Our website prices are only a little higher than the local Pattaya prices in our actual flower shop (to pay towards PayPal payment fees and Web costs) (Non-PayPal methods of payment also available) - However, we have had to increase (until 18 February) the prices of our products in our shop and on our website that contain Roses to higher than our normal levels because we always buy fresh flowers from our suppliers for our customers and the wholesale price of Roses from Thailand flower wholesalers has dramatically increased (as always at this time of year - supply and demand for St Valentine's Day!). We expect to be able reduce our Rose products back to our normal prices from 19 February onwards. Are you an Expat, or on holiday in Pattaya on Valentine's Day? - Come and visit our Florist & Gift Shop to place your order, or do it on our Website from the comfort of a computer, for delivery or collection. NOTE: Our Internet Order Deadine for deliveries on St Valentine's Day is 6.00am, Thursday, 12 February (Thai Time) - but please place your Valentine order as soon as possible before this date. - If you are in Pattaya on Valentine's Day, you can order in our shop later than that - we plan to be open 24 hours a day on 13 & 14 February! (Closed on 15-16 February to recover!) Are you Away from Pattaya on Valentine's Day? - Order via our Website and you will get our reliable Delivery Service. NOTE: We will not be able to provide our usual Delivery Photo and SMS text Delivery Confirmation message to your mobile phone for Deliveries between 11-14 February - due to time constraints. (but we will e-mail you!) Happy to answer any questions We hope to serve you as our valued customers. Warm Regards simonb
  4. Thanks joekicker. Getting a card is no problem. Unfortunately, we don't have a car at the moment & I believe getting their by motorbike is rather too far. So I'm looking for someone who can share their transport
  5. Hi All There is a Makro (wholesaler, cash & carry) in Chonburi, as well as Bangkok.... (see www.siammakro.co.th) Does anyone seeing this post go there sometimes? Perhaps you or one of your Thai staff go there to buy some food/products wholesale? If yes, I'd like to talk you about one of my staff going with you/them, to buy stock for our own shop. Happy to pay travel expenses ..... Alternatively, anyone know where in Pattaya a business owner can buy chocolate confectionary (such as Ferrero Rocher) at wholesale prices (in small quantities)? Best Regards Simon
  6. Hi GlynRhedyn Thanks for your question. We can indeed do something very similar. The standard box is normally best as hand luggage and that is probably the only absolutely safe way to ensure the flowers don't get damaged too much on the plane. However, we could make the box a bit more substantial for you, if necessary. We don't always have this sort of thing in stock (we want to ensure everything we sell is as fresh as possible) but can easily do it as a special order at 24 hrs (or more) notice for you, for less than 500B. Exact price will depend on the type of box. When you next come to Pattaya, it would be great if you could visit our shop sometime before the day you have to leave - that way you could discuss it with our friendly team. Our shop is normally open at least 10am - 10pm, 7 Days a Week Best Regards Simon
  7. If Mat23 or anyone is still wondering what those roses meant, I can clarify it for you ... Mat23 - By giving you white roses (assuming she deliberately chose white, when other colours were also available), she was saying to you (honestly or otherwise) "my feelings for you are pure (100%)". The feeling usually associated with Roses is love. Carraig and his ex-girlfriend are right when they say white flowers *can* mean death. Chinese and Thai-Chinese people associate the colour white with death (many white things, not only white flowers). However, because it is estimated only about 10% of Thai people have Chinese background, giving white flowers is usually safe*, when you want to tell someone your feelings for them are pure - and very safe at funerals, even for Chinese! It is also useful to remember that, because most Thai people are Buddhists, many believe the day of the week they were born influences their personality and life. Each day has a Colour, a Lucky Colour and an Unlucky Colour. Many will wear clothes and like to receive things in their birthday colour and/or lucky colour associated with the day they were born - they believe it will bring them good luck. This partly explains why many Thai people wear yellow on Mondays. Monday was the day HM King Bhumibol Adulyadej (the present King of Thailand) was born, and yellow is one of the birthday colours for people born on that day. NOTE: Cream is also considered the birthday colour for Thai people born on Mondays. White is the lucky colour for people born on Wednesday night. * However, for people born on Tuesday, white is an unlucky colour. What colour was your wife or girlfriend born on? Knowing that will enable you to score some 'brownie points' and avoid 'faux pas' next time you buy something for her .... Worth also noting that most Thais believe the number 6 is unlucky, and the number 9 is very lucky. So buy things in 9's, not 6's! More information on this, and lots more advice, can be found on the Isan Flowers Advice page Cheers Simon
  8. Thanks BillWilson. Being a local, independant, family business I'm afraid we can only deliver to the Pattaya area You'll have to either (1) search the internet for a local florist in your delivery location (although I suspect few will have a website) or (2) use one of the national or international networks (where there is more chance of quality service, but you will probably pay a very high price for it) Simon

We also have flower services like Delivery, Weddings, Funerals If you're lucky enough to be in Pattaya ... come and visit us (just off Soi Buakoaw, on the same Soi as PP Massage) or send flowers from the comfort of your computer, via our website. 10. Hi Doghaus Please count me in this year. Missed the last couple by a week or two! Team - Europe (GB) Shirt size - L Best estimate handicap - 11 My email address - not sure how to get this to you. Plse let me know simonb
  11. Thanks Smitty. I may just do that!
  12. Great info Mats. I'll definitely check out Boom in November Many thanks ;D
  13. Thanks Mats I'll try and find it when I'm around in November!
  14. Thanks for the info, Sprinter Almost everywhere you go you can hear The Eagles, Clapton, Don McLean, Scorpions, etc (it's been the same for the last 10 years at least!) I know the classics are good (and the Bamboo bar band are one of the best) but it gets a bit repetitive after a while. :-/ I was hoping someone could point me to a nightclub I don't yet know about that plays up-to-date western club music. 8) simonb
  15. I may be missing something but, in the past, I've found relatively few places in Pattaya that you can dance to western dance music - basically Marine 1, Marine 2 (is that still going?), Disco Duck (?), Hollywood (?!), Tony's (do they still hassle you every 2 mins offering cigarettes and/or shots, etc?). Is there anywhere else? I'd be especially interested in anywhere playing Ibiza style Trance music (Sash!, Alice Deejay, Fragma, Ian van Dahl, etc) simonb
  16. I'm interested to hear if anyone can give details of any bars with unusual themes or 'gimmicks' that are perhaps worth visiting. By gimmicks I'm thinking of anything unusual, compared to the standard go-go's with poledancing/girl shows & beer bars with live music. For example, I heard last year that there was some bar with a large tank in it that you could see girls swimming in while you drinking your beer! Any info welcomed! simonb
  17. Can anyone advise on the cheapest price you will be able to pay for the following: A - One hour's hire of a jet ski at Jomtien (say, 2 people) B - Half a day's hire of a speedboat out to one of the islands (say, 4 people) Does it depend on the number of people, for example? I know you have to bargain (like most things!) but I'd like to know how low the people managing these things are prepared to go Thanks for any info simonb
