  1. The Korat immigration office has announced that it may close as it has had notification from Bangkok. For those of us living in Issan this is quite a blow, I appreciate that it does not affect Pattaya but the officers have mentioned that some offices south of Bangkok may also be closed. Those of us living up here are currently organising a petition with the full support of the officers at the Korat immigration office and putting posts on the Thai Immigration portal.
  2. The firm I worked at for nearly 20 years had a pension scheme and I had also transferred in some extra benefits, but over the last few years the place became awful to work at. After another trip to Thailand in March 2006 I decided that is enough of work so went to see my boss on my return, I already knew my days were numbered because at 55 I was twice as old as most of the others. I said to my boss if I take early retirement would they be able to offer any extra package otherwise I will have to stay on a bit longer. Later that day he came back and said we will offer you voluntary redundanc
  3. Thanks for the photos, have booked a few nights there early next month
  4. Flew from Bangkok to Birmingham and return in August with Emirates the price then was 32,000 baht inclusive, in economy. Had three hour stopover in Dubai which was busy but took advantage of a lounge. Two years ago flew KLM from Leeds to Amsterdam, but due to snow was three hours on the ground at Leeds so late for China Airways connection to Bangkok. Had booked business class and KLM transfer desk said I could wait three days in the airport for the next available seat in China or take an economy seat in KLM in 8 hours. I opted for KLM, but is was not good to see half the business class s
  5. Thanks again for your replies, I have now booked into the Pattaya Bay Resort and did check out some other posts on it, so have intitially booked two nights rather than a full week, so will see what it is like and if ok extend the stay or move.

  7. Thanks for the recommendations, so far I like the look of the Pattaya Bay Resort as it looks not too far out and with the WiFi . And Yes I will have my own WiFie Will check if they have any vacancies. Cheers
  8. I would be grateful if anyone can recommend a hotel in a quiet location yet not too far out. I live in Korat and have not been to Pattaya before and I am looking to visit with my wife for a few days in late January or early February. WFi would be good. Thanks in advance
  9. Thanks for that I will give it a try the next time I get to Bangkok
  10. Hi and Hello I live up in Korat but it is nigh on impossible to get much farang food up here and sometimes my stomache craves other than Thai food. Can anyone tell me where I will be able to get British sausage, bacon, cheese and pies from?. I had heard that a Yorkshire guy had a shop in Pattaya and makes sausage? Thanks
