As you are probably aware, FA Cup matches and England Internationals are not being screened in Thailand. I am pleased to report that Cats Corner will be one of a handful of bars in Pattaya that will be presenting the FA Cup Semi-final, Manchester United -v- Everton at 10pm (2200) Sunday, 19th April 2009. If you are into Formula 1, the fun starts at 3pm the same day with the Chinese G.P. We are able to present UK BBC full coverage, without those annoying advert breaks on Thai TV (UBC). F1 qualifying 2pm Saturday 18th April 2009. Thanks to my technical advisors (you know who you are!) for enabling Cats Corner to screen all sporting events of note, including England Internationals, FA Cup matches, Formula 1, all Cricket and Rugby Union......the list goes on.

You may be aware that UBC (True Visions) have not bought the broadcasting rights to the English FA Cup and England internationals (friendlies and World Cup qualification). The upshot is the majority of Pattaya bar beers, clubs etc. will not be screening those events, at least for this season. I am pleased to announce that I have invested in any array of TV feeds that cover, amongst other events, all England international football matches, English FA Cup matches, cricket test and one day matches etc. Shortly, once I've done research into what Cats Corner can screen, I will create a dedicated Cats Corner sports thread to inform all those interested. But for starters, Cats Corner will be screening the England -v- Ukraine football world cup qulification match at 0130 Thursday 2nd April 2009 (Thai time). Cats Corner is located at the junction of Soi 14/15 off Walking Street, just past Secrets. Within the immediate area, I am aware that only Secrets and Windmill Agogo have similar facilities, but do correct me if I'm mistaken. England -v- Slovakia went down well yesterday, so let's hope we can cheer England on, because if England win, world cup qualification will be within grasp.

I am getting mixed signals from Pattaya police, Banglamung Licencing Authority and City Hall over rumoured bar closures this November 2008. As most of you are probably aware, the funeral of King's sister takes place shortly. Estimates of the length of bar closures vary between zero and 3 days, depending on whom you talk to. City Hall does not appear to be talking with the same voice either. One guy in the Licencing Dept. quoted me 1 day; another guy in the same office said "Don't worry, stay open wth the support of the Pattaya authorities, it's only Bangkok that wants alcohol-free days." Is there anyone out there who can see the wood through the trees and offer a reasonable answer, or it it a case of receiving a letter from the police giving your bar very little notice, as has been usual in the recent past?

You have a fair point, and I did take the clash of dates into account, but met resistance from one of my Thai staff who is celebrating her birthday in tandem with Cats Corner 2nd anniversary. Apparently it is bad luck to have a birthday party when it's not your birthday, or that's what she says. I have a fair few golf-loving friends/customers who indicate they will frequent CATZ and CATS CORNER over the course of the evening. I, for one, like CATZ and I'll be popping in to help them celebrate. Welcome back Rambo. If you see Martin, can you ask him to ask Noi to prepare Thai food for the party as well as Farang food. I've been attempting to phone Noi, but her mobile appears to be out of action. Thanks mate. Get back to me on this one.

CATS CORNER (formerly TAFFY'S BAR) will be hosting a party at 2030 Friday 7th November 2008 to celebrate its 2nd anniversary under the management of FELINE.
