  4. Party for friends leaving soon - roast pig, Bob Palmer's food and live music. 8pm Friday 1st April 2011
  5. Having a party around about 8pm Friday, 18th March 2011, in Cats Corner Bar Beer to say bye and have a safe trip to some friends who are leaving over the weekend. Everyone welcome - Bob Palmer's food and live music. Best regards, Paul.
  6. Very remiss of me - forgot to mention it is also my manager's birthday on party night
  7. The management and staff of Cats Corner Bar Beer invite you to a mega bash on Sunday 11th July 2010. From 7pm until 9pm be entertained by the British F1 G.P. during which copious quantities of food will be on offer, including a 35 Kg porker and Bob Palmer's usual great selection. From 9pm until 1am there will be live music (and more food)THEN - the World Cup Final (English commentary), Holland -v- Spain. We already have some Spanish friends coming, however all are welcome. Best regards, Paul.
  8. Looks like I won't have to shell out for food the way England are playing!
  9. Glad to have been of assistance. I'll try and pop down sometime.
  10. I have one large TV, so I've forked out THB 10,000. I made that back on the first day and more. Like last June, I get very little passing trade. Formula 1, football etc. brings in much needed revenue for my bar.
  11. Just before the World Cup commenced, we were visited here at Cats Corner by the Pattaya Rep of RS Company, Bangkok and his lady boss, the latter who spoke very good English. The position is this - THB 10,000 for each TV screen. Police cannot enforce the law alone. The company rep must request police assistance and take the lead. The police are there to prevent a breach of the peace and convey all parties to the police station for the infringement to be settled. For a first offence, RS Company will seek payment of THB 100,000. For all you upstanding and law-abiding bar owners (like MM), those of you who want to purchase a licence should ring 0847-003417 which is the mobile phone of the Pattaya rep. I hope this assists. By the way, here at Cats Corner, we are showing all the matches with English commentary.
  12. Just to let you know, we are screening all the World Cup football matches at Cats Corner Bar Beer, with the commentary in English. You read it here first - if England reach the semi-finals or final, I will put on copious quantities of free food! Best regards, Paul.
  13. I must be reading the wrong newspapers, looking at the wrong forums, viewing the wrong TV stations!! The new, young Superintendent of Soi 9 Pattaya Police Station went on record in several media outlets that he intended to crack down on the indiscretions I described in my original post. He seems true to his word. Despite the public order problems in BKK, the police and other agencies have been visiting/raiding both foreign and Thai-owned venues. Out of deference to the owners, I will not name those venues, but it is happening. Who wants drugs, underage, flower sellers, DVD/watch pushers, beggars etc lurking around Pattaya? I just wish they would leave my pig man alone!
  14. I hear what you say, but the 3 cops, subject of this thread, have been busy for the past few weeks, clearing away the undesirables, some of whom you mention. Better late than never, but this is only going to work if they keep at it. I've no problem with these particular cops - I've seen them in action. The locality around my bar is largely clear of undesirables, however, repeating myself, this long-overdue enforement must be on-going.
  15. No probs - I completely agree with you. I was just posting this information so that other bar owners don't get caught out.
  16. It has been well documented here and elsewhere regarding the Police/Immigration/City Hall crackdown on foreigh bar owners for amongst other things, no work permit, no music licences, underage staff and customers etc. However, the following visit by City Hall officials to my bar on a "party night" is a new one on me: - As you are probably aware, City Hall have been getting tough on street food sellers, shoe-shine boys, flower sellers etc. There was a birthday party at my bar recently, with live entertainment and food on offer. As party of the food selection, I employed the services of a pig roasting firm, complete with a bar-b-q cooking a pig just outside my venue. Just as we were about to carve the pig, 3 uniformed police officers, attached to City Hall, descended on the area, scattering the street traders in all directions. The officers nabbed a few, issuing them with fixed penalty notices at THB 500 a time. Then they asked to see my pig-man's "licence". He could not produce one, therefore he was wacked with a ticket. I coughed up the cash, which had to be paid up at Soi 9 Police Station by my manager, otherwise the pig-man would have been carted off to the monkey house, leaving my party minus a pig. The motto is: - if you have a party, no problem offering food from your bar's property. If you offer food from outside your bar like I did, you must ensure you have purchased a licence from City Hall prior to the event. I think the cost is about THB 50, or thereabouts.
  17. My food people (Bob Palmers)are delivering at 8pm and the porker should be roasted by then. I would suggest that those of you who wish to stuff themselves arrive well before because as regulars know, seating will be at a premium. Regards, Paul.
  18. The previous owner of this bar when it was known as Taffy's Bar, Brian, is putting on a mega birthday bash at 8pm Friday 26th March 2010. There will be copious quantities of food and live (musical) entertainment
  19. Look forward to seeing you. I'll follow you into Baby Dolls, then Misty's................
  20. As regular customers already know, I serve a varied selection of good, free food during the first and last Formula 1 G.P's. So, here goes: - Bahrain F1 G.P., 7pm Sunday 14th March 2010. Coverage commences at 6pm and food will be on offer from about 7.30pm. We will also screen all the practice sessions and qualification as follows: - First Practice 2pm Friday 12th March. Second Practice 6pm Friday 12th March. Third Practice 3pm Saturday 13th March. Qualification 6pm Saturday 13th March. Race 7pm Sunday 14th March. Cats Corner is located at the junction of Soi 14/Soi 15 off Walking Street, about 30 metres from Secrets. Best regards, Paul.
  21. UBC (True) have, at the last moment, forked out royalties to the English FA and the match is being screened on TrueSport 1. Would you believe, no deals have been struck for the World Cup next year, so not sure whether that competition will be available on Thai TV.
