I will toss this into the ring-- Not that I am recommending Japan (lots of issues and the culture differences can make your ears bleed) but japan has a huge market for ESL teachers and the salary is not too bad. But for your wife--Japan is crying for geriatric nurses---a huge shortage that is only getting worse. Definitely something to look into. And 5 hour flight to Los! best to you and yours!

That was interesting. I did pretty well. But the lettuce does not hold true in japan. We have freeze dried lettuce.

Upon reading my OP, it comes across as rather naive. Just how the words fell out of my head around midnight. But I know full well the child pickpocket scams around the world. We have all had the experiences with the kids selling stuff--but I have personally never had one go for the pockets. That is what made this story stand out. It seems this particular group is focused on stealing and will go straight for the pockets. As for the police---I am sure they are aware, but it is always good to voice truth to power.

Be warned and be careful. Hopefully someone in town will tell the BIB.

Stayed at the Queen Vic end of June/ first of July. Top rate. Great place and good security. Highly recommend it. Oh and it is smack dab in the middle of soi 6.
