  1. "How can you beat crazy daves?" with a stick!
  2. In low season I never book. I like the ability to check out when I feel like it. I once checked out when I overflowed the toilet.
  3. My favorite breakfast if I'm very Hungry is Robins Nest across from Chabba Hut hotel on soi Buchow. The 199 baht all you can eat is always freshly made with unlimited Italian coffee and OJ. Not cheap, but delicious.
  4. If you want to watch tv on your computer search ovguide on google. They list many great sites. However, run a good adware and antivirus program after use. Some of the sites leave spyware and virus.
  5. I spent a few days there two years ago. A simple clean room with somewhat hard bed. Surprising quiet considering the location. The walk up the stairs with bags could be fatal if you have a spare tire arounf the middle.
  6. Beautiful analogy JackCorbett. My coffee doen't look good right now.
  7. THe beds are modestly hard, but a quality matress none the less. It is hard beds that are from a cheap mattress that are the real killer.
  8. If you would like a comfortable bar to escape the madness of soi 8 I find ILE a Finnish bar accross from the Sunshine hotel a perfect place to relax. The padded couches surrounded by fans keeping one cool is perfect for taking a well deserved timeout. THe service girls are friendly and never hassle. Sometimes I just like to sit there watching the world go by chowing down a kebap purchased nearby.
  9. Yes...Yes it is. If that is a problem I respecfully say stay home. Going to the otherside of the globe should be different from home. I miss Tropican orange juice, sabrett hot dogs, baseball and many things from home. Upgrades can be found here. Forget Pizza and explore other dishes
  10. The roof garden is a no frills hotel for 700 Baht.THere is no elevator,pool.restaurant. What you getis a clean quiet A/C roomwith a somewhat hard bed. It is located accrossfrom MataHari ang Manhattan steakhouse restaurants.(Just before Sugar Hut as you go upthe hill toJomtien) THe two days I spent there were fine. The staff were very hospitable.
  11. The Apex hotel is fine if you lazy. For 500 baht you get the essentials. The rooms are worn and shabby, but if you take a room in the back of the hotel (no carpet) they are clean. The front desk is cold, but efficent. There is no joiner fee and they take ID's of visitors.
  12. I procrastinated and did not buy a Korean Air ticket for $1313 from NYC (Summer). Now prices just sky-rocketed with fuel surcharges. I decided to buy a direct flight Thai airways for $1590. Is this airline any good? or will my fat ass be squeezed into a shoebox and given the usual Thai third world service.
  13. I stayed there last July. For 700 Baht it was clean and amazingly quiet despite the location. THe only downside was the rock hard bed.
  14. Without a doubt use the 5 Star Visa Run operated out of the Sportsman on Soi 13. I used it last week. It was fantastic. I don't know the name of the border crossing they used (not the one with the casino), but there was a quick turnnover at the border. Sat at a wooden table while the company did the rest. (Passport in Sight at all times) Try to avoid Fri-Sat and Sunday.
