  1. Most of the Nationwide cash cards on a new account will have a limit of £200 on them which means you are pretty safe doing the 10k baht per withdrawal per day. The Cash casrd as opposed to the debit and credit cards work on Cirrus instead of Visa/Mastercard. Cirrus whilst being a part of Mastercard does not levy the 1% fee from the UK. However the exchange rate is nominally worse and you will still get a 150 baht charge per withdrawal. GSB (Government savings bank) is outside of the group charging this fee so is free to use but not many about. Bank of Ayudhya is currently upgrading their machines so whilst they advise of a 150 charge they may not YET actually charge you the fee. Some of the Kasikorn banks ATM's have not yet started charging either apparently but they are further ahead of the upgrade than Ayudhya. My advise would be to take high denomination TC's (£200-£500 per TC )if you are staying in Pattaya and keep the card as a back up. There are literally stacks of exchange booths and banks in Pattaya and you will have no problem exchanging them. Charge to cash a TC is 30 baht + 3 baht tax. They give you a decent rate and are relatively safe as you can get them replaced if lost or stolen.

  3. All i know is that my TGF always loved the White and Pink roses but was somewhat indifferent with the red ones.
  4. As for the Baht buses they are simple. Don't listen to Mango he obviously has some sort of grudge against someone from the area. For that matter if you aren't sure about what Bus to get just ask any of the locals or the Western punters which side of the road to get on and you'll be there in minutes at most. Btw i am jealous of your impending trip.
  5. Stayed at Mulphy's place (The Rockhouse which is excellent value btw) throughout October and not once did i ever have a problem getting anywhere. Travelling south towards Walking street i find very quick and relatively traffic free. 5 minutes at worst in my opinion. Short walk down from 2nd road and your on Walking street. Not much different to when i stayed at Residence garden as far as the amount of walking involved. Perhaps an extra hundred yards in total. As for getting home its a doddle. Walk up from Walking St to 2nd road. Jump onto ANY Baht bus heading towards Mikes Shopping Mall ( north) and get off at....... wait for it........... Mikes shopping Mall. Walk up Soi Diana and bang.. your home. Even drunk i consider that easy. Bars and other entertainment wise LK Metro wipes the floor with Jomtien. There is no real comparison betwen the two.
  6. Have to agree that if you can save £100 or £200 on your flight by dropping the IFE then well done. Lets face it when was the last time any of you paid £200 to rent a few movies? Same with the business class thing. While i am healthy enough to be able to fit into an economy chair i will forego the £400 it will cost me for the extra 5" leg room or whatever. That £200 or £400 quid can make a big difference to the length of my stay or at least the quality of the hotel i stay in whilst i am there.
  7. The others probably booked the flights in advance some time ago so got Etihads pre inflated price. Still a damned ripoff by Etihad in my opinion. I went with qatar this time around.
  8. Personally hate the idea of Mobiles going off every 2 minutes while i am TRYING to actually get my head down. I find it hard enough to sleep on a plane as it is.
  9. Am flying with them in October. got roughly a 2 hour change outbound and a horrible 8 hour inbound changeover. on the other hand I doubt i will ever be relaxed on the outbound leg as i am way to excited.
  10. Carry On up the Khyber, Carry On Don't Lose your Head, Carry On Cleo and Carry On Screaming. Probably the best Carry on Scene ever was the dining room in Khyber.

  12. Holy shit... If he were to move the capital there with all the bars, girls, fun etc i would be in total heaven. A mere hour on the Motorway. If only.
  13. Not just third world countries. I have bought people a portion of chips or a burger a few times in my own country for the same reason. Admittedly, one did tell me he was Vegetarian and asked me to get him a Vegeburger.
  14. Seems to be in freefall today after the rumour that the BOT will Revoke Capital Control Measures From Monday Cash Sterling = 61.13 USD : 50-100 31.03 Thats a hell of a big drop over the last 24 hours
