Used Mr. T yesterday. With less than 24 hours notice, he replied and comnfirmed. Driver was waiting when I cleared Customs. Late model Mitsubishi sedan; great driver - safe, good English, and Van Morrison CD. No problem for rest stop. Stuck in traffic for royal motorcade but, other than that, great deal. Will use service again. Can't beat it for the price.

All about location; Soi 2 Beer bars can be a great time and less in your face than Soi 6. Rooms have decayed a bit but several other aspects more than compensate for this (IMHO). Great service beverages readily available easy and quick access to Big C for those need to have items Baht bus goes right in front of the lodge; 10-15 minutes to Walking Street. 3 pools Wi-Fi and business center; staff was great about faxes, etc. Oh yeah, very guest friendly; girls give their ID at desk and no hassles YMMV but it's a reliable option for me. Been stopping for a few years now. Always a great way to start the bar crawls. Food has been good to very good consistently. Margaritas and Coronas hit the spot.

Residence Garden/Captains Table for me. Maybe more expensive (around 4-500? Can't recall exactly) but nice barbecue and some great house wines. Most of the time very convenient for me as I tend to stay there as well. Barbecued meat, pork, chicken, salad bar, a sparse but ever present Thai dish or 2. Decent ambience except for traffic noises if highway is busy. Did I mention the Elvis show? May be a reason for that. But live entertainment. Always had a pleasant time none the less.
