Flipper vs Res. Garden vs Mark-land
Hubster replied to herodotis's topic in Hotel and Accommodation Questions
BB: I think that was greg's point and that you actually both agree. I agree also that it's probably better to start first trip in center of action (easier to get familiar and find what you like via walking out occasionally) and then later if preferred go to RG, so that when you leave RG you have your goals targetted and the trip into town is not a big deal. This post begs the question on where to get the best imatation golf shirts. they are a little cheesy in Mike's, and not good quality... any other suggestions out there?? Hub

This place is beat. View is good, except for big ugly windy Inn sign and rusted metal everywhere. On Walking Street but actually do more walking than say RG due to baht bus routes. No phones/alarm clocks (which some may like, not me I like naps and play golf), nine inch crap tv. Walk downstairs 2 or more flights to order room service or anything else. Rooms old, overpriced by 2x compared to better rooms, treatment, amenties, you get at places like Flipper, Eastinny, Welcome Pattaya. Initially I was given room where shower sprayed evrywhere from leaks and tolet didn't flush (kind of embarrasin

Dive shops/dive boat operators?
Hubster replied to mister_handy's topic in General Discussion about Pattaya
Ray: I'm not, but wouldn't mind trying so can't vouch for any of the places above. Not even enough time for golf in pattaya on short trips ( 2weeks or less). For prices try: http://www.mermaiddive.com/news.htm http://www.a1-diving-thailand-seafari.com/...cuba-diving.htm -

playing golf - easy to walk on?
Hubster replied to pattaya-golfer's topic in General Discussion about Pattaya
I hear what you're saying Ray, and also should add that haven has the best Bfast deal I found and open very early (around 6:30-7) with eggs, coffee, toast and I think pototoes for 50 baht and also 50 baht omelletes. But the rooms are just too small and I don't need the attitude when I'm a client. I also had some missing cash one night after coming home drunk and passing out ( I was alone and friend checked how much baht i had when he poured me off at my room specifically because he wanted to make sure security guard didn't nab it.) Some other places (eg Cafe Kronburg)will also store your clu -

playing golf - easy to walk on?
Hubster replied to pattaya-golfer's topic in General Discussion about Pattaya
pattaya-golfer: I stayed at haven on my first trip for the reasons ray emtnioned. Not a bad idea, but somteimes steven is unappraochable and cops an attitude (accused me of not paying for my rental clubs after staying with hm several days). Rooms are also small and tatty here compared to what you can get for the sameprice at several other hotel (flipper, eastinny, sabai, etc). Another option, which I recommend, is to join pattaya sports club, pays for itself in one to two rounds via discounts: http://www.pattayasports.org/golf/Golf%20Home.htm See their schedule, also in local -
Guys: Thanks for all the helpful posts. I checked out Tequilla Reef and really liked the place. AC, nice setting, the owner is very friendly (hey, SFDude, he's also from sanfran), food good, and great shaken margaritas. TG deal is buffet for 450 including turkey, ham, duck breast, and all trimmings. I think it will be very good. The owner asked that if we have six or more we make reservation as he is expecting good turnout. I was thinking about maybe fivish, with maybe a crawl on Soi 6/Yodak before around 3. Can you guys IM me or respond on this thread if you are interested? So

Hey Phil: Sorry, can't ride in with you, but glad you are still headin' out and was wondering if you are still up for some NFL games and Thanksgiving. My Mom was glad when I told her I'd be celebrating TG with some other people in Thailand. If you're around, I might ask you to slur into the phone Thursday late night so she can hear another boston accent:D. Pats got a tough one tonight. "Love that muddy water, boston your my town." Hope you can also make Banana 2 party. Hub (as in Hub City)

Eltib: You're right, I may try eva deluxe next time, but was able to trade in some FF miles to get $350 RT from NW this time. Cathay pacific was really good last time, good food, cute attendants, left friday 7:00 pm (so could work that day) and arrived BKK at 11:30 am. They even upgraded me to Bus from HK to BKk. Only problem there is my friend travelling with me got a little maow maow and I may be on some list somewhere. I'm within 5-6K FF miles on my AA card from getting free Cathay Pacific flight. Zues, I don't know if you've been on it, but our NW flight can be a little rough. S

Arrive on horrible NW flight late Sunday night (unfortnately I wasn't able to take Cathay Pacific through HK like last time). Anyone want to split a taxi with the obligatory stop for road sodas (beers to go)? Hub

Leotex, BigD and Eltib: Thanks for replys, I may not end up at RG, but looks like there be a few boardies tipping them back at fLB, myself included. Leotex, not my first time but haven't been to a wed/sen meeting yet, have to change that this time. Hub

Ranger: Are you the same guy that posted some reports on another board? I don't remember if it was Club Hombre or Nanaplaza, but remember getting some good information, i think on Rio also? I get in to BKK 11/25 at 11:30 and will likely go to Pattaya directly (I'll probably need a day to recover JL so wouldn't be able to enjoy BKK anyways). I'll let you know if a change my mind, if not let's get a beer or two afterwards sometime in pattaya. Hub
