  1. I purchased a opal while I was visiting Australia and need to get it mounted into a pendant. Does anyone have a recommendation for an honest, good jewellery/gold shop that can do this work? Thanks, Submarineman
  2. Copey, I used a travel agent in the Philippines. One I can recommend is Beeline Travel. http://www.beelinetravel.com/ Only bad thing was I had to send the money via Western Union. You should also try to call Cebu Pacific. When I had to change my flight at the last minute, I called them from the UK and they took my card over the phone. Submarineman
  3. bigorange1, Thanks for the reply. I should be in Pattaya by the time you land. I already have a taxi too. See you in Pattaya. Submarineman
  4. I arrive on Etihad at 0710 on 29 April. I would be nice to share the cost of a taxi. Submarineman
  5. Ouch. Could it be the over 20 hour delay in Abu Dhabi? Submarineman
  6. Any UK supermarket (ASDA) should have them. Look in the garbage bag section. I use the ziplock brand. Submarineman
  7. I stayed at the Lek (new wing) last September and liked it alot. In room safe. IDD phones. Good pool. 90baht breakfast buffet. 7/11 attached to the building. Step out the front door and baht busses will take you north. A short walk to beach road, Soi post office, Royal Plaza Mall and Mikes Mall. I payed 850 a night in Sept. I just asked about June and they are quoting 1000 new wing, 700 old. Submarineman
  8. jnr, Cool! I am glad you got the better rate. That is why I love this board. It is good place for sharing information. Please let me know how the Lek is when you visit. It will be my first time there in September. Bob
  9. jnr, I just email them at lek_hotel@hotmail.com and that is what they offered. Regards, Bob
  10. jnr, When are you staying in Pattaya? The reason I ask is because I have been confirmed a price of 850 baht for the new wing(back wing) in September. I think it was 700 baht for the old wing during the same time frame. Bob
  11. I already have a car reserved. Will be arriving 3 Sept at about 1500 local. Give me a shout if you would like to save a few baht. Bob
  12. Juan_Kerr, I have found that ebookers.com has the cheapest flights from LHR to BKK. I always take EVA Air. But Thai is normaly around the same price. Both are direct flights. Bob
  13. Eva Air's Evergreen Deluxe class is an older business class seat (38" pitch) with economy service. You get your own checkin line (always shorter then economy) and seat back video (economy is on a small screen in the overhead.) Pretty good deal for the price. Oh, and you get 1.25 times airmiles if you become a member of thier FF Club. I flew Evergreen Deluxe last year from London to BKK and loved it! This year, I am going to try Super Business class. Bob
  14. I know this is early, but I am looking for someone to share a taxi from the airport to Pattaya on 3 Sept. Arrive on Eva Air Flt BR68 to arrive at 1450. It did'nt work the last time I tried to share a taxi, but I will try again. Bob
  15. Air Asia is a new budget airline out of Thailand. Too new to know. Bob
  16. The $1000 I put in the last message was for Evergreen Deluxe. I could have traveled basic economy for less. Bob
  17. I have always done better using a travel web page then EVA's own page. EVA is almost always 1/3 to 1/2 more expensive then a travel web page. Last time I used ebookers and spent about $1000 on LHR to BKK. Eva wanted about $1400 for the same trip on their web page. Stick with the travel agents. They get better deals. Even with other airlines. Bob
  18. Thanks guys. I will do some experiments in the kitchen tonight. ??? Hummm, anyone else smell smoke??? Bob
  19. VasH, Thanks for a great link! I will use this in the future. Bob
  20. I really loved eating Thai food while I was on my first trip to Thailand in June. I liked adding the thai peppers from the small container they set on the table. You know the one with thai peppers in one container, suger, dry peppers and something else in the other containers. My question is: What is the liquid in the thai pepper container? I just bought some thai peppers and cut them up. But, they are not the same. Is it oil or just plain water in those condiment containers? Bob
  21. I will be arriving at BKK on 4 June at around 1455 (2:55pm). I am looking to share a Limo/Taxi to Pattaya. Bob aka Submarineman
