Soi6-- We had the same experience last year and I wrote about the TIT of hotel rates in trip report #2 and #11, if you want a laugh. And it's not only Flipper. As Monkeyman points out, what is really goofy is when you check out and try to get a special rate after you've spent a few nights somewhere else. Still, you do save a few Baht when you take the deal, even though you would never be charged the full price if you stayed only one or two nights, as they provide a different/lower price then. Cheers! Here is a pic of the view from the tower balcony of the Sunshine. This is the SW view. This and two others are in my trip report, #2. (I wanted to get at least one in this thread in case someone ever did a search, they would have better and more complete info on the hotel property. If this violates any rule Pete, just trash it.) GS

Great, V. Hope it all works out for you. Even if they don't have the special, if you get the tower room, it will be worth the Baht. And, you will have a room you enjoy returning to. GS

V-- The pricing at the Thai hotels is just the type of thing that will drop you off in The Twililght Zone (my trip report for further). The Sunshine does have the special promo going that we spoke about. They also have their regular rates. And, they have a third rate, a non-participate-in-program rate. You pay less than regular rates if you want to spend a night or two AND/OR stay and not participate in their special, buy X-get X- free, program. Still with me? (Remember, Twilight Zone) If you want that program, they will charge you a bit more for the room, BUT when you figure in the free

Mini-Review - Flipper House, Soi 7
GrilledShrimp replied to Harvey's topic in Hotel and Accommodation Questions
I just returned. Stayed the first night at Flipper House. Checked out of FH and into the Sunshine Tower the next day. No comparison. My FH room had filthy carpeting, mildew bathroom, mildew smell and C- hotel staff. I was in the new wing. YMMV No one around to take ID when I brought back BG at 2:30 AM and that put me in a position I would have liked to avoid. I rolled the dice and had no problems, fun lady. Still, if I had brought home a freelancer, I don't know if I would have let her upstairs. GS -
I don't want to double post and violate any forum rules, but if you read the trip report (#2) I posted yesterday, I provide much Sunshine info. Their web address is www.sunshinepattaya.com I just returned and thought it to be the best value in Pattaya. With the special promotion going, I averaged 825 baht per night. It lasts through August, if I recall correctly. And, the water pressure in my room located in the tower was great. Must have been a shower-head issue! GS

Best Rates -- Hard Rock?

Sure Baz, if you're willing to take the time to provide that info, I'd appreciate it. By the way, the reason I'm interested in the HR is because of the pool area, which looks great in the pic's I've seen. With the swim-up bar, the cabanas, I can see hanging there for a few days, particularly with a pretty lady at my side. Thanks again.GS -
Clicked the link in the "Read This First" post above, but can't get the link to book rooms at over 500 to work. Do any of you know what the best rates at HR and where to get them? Is walking in a horrible idea? Also, best rates at Buena Vista, Eastiny or the two Flipppers, this time of year? Can't wait! Thanks for the help. GS
