Try visiting it , it really is the heart of Thailand , cities worth seeing are Kohn Kaen , Udon , Ubon, Korat, Kalasin, Roi Et, Surin and many more. Agree with an earlier poster , Korat has a larger representation than any other city , the bar scene in Isaan is different to farang orientated places but you can have a great laugh, with many fine ladies on tap.
