  1. I walked there and back once, but certainly would recommend it. I've also used this company a few times..http://www.imagelimo.com/ because Alex never turned up !
  2. Flown KLM from Manchester twice.Never again ! Flights delayed every time, missed interconnecting plane,no luggage, crappy 747 from Amsterdam. KLM's logo: 'World-Wide Reliability'......my arse ! Use Qatar- modern panes,no delays on the past 7 times I've flown with them.I got udgraded twice on my last trip due to being in their frequent flyer club. Collect their air-miles and after you've done about 5 flights, you get a free return ticket. 11 days and counting. Ste
  3. Off to Chiang Rai next month and am looking for a decent hotel in the city.Preferably close to market/bars. I'm taking my g/f so am not looking for p4p. I'd really appreciate any info . Many thanks. Ste.
  4. Seen a couple of their 'planes' on the tarmac at BKK. Looks as though they need a lick of paint.

    Tax Free

Yes,but I have to get the perfume, the French stuff, before I land at BKK (It's a long story, but I've a promise to keep ). Having done a bit of research I've found Amsterdam Airport's Tax Free website. All the prices are on there and it appears to be a fair bit cheaper than UK High Street prices. Still very expensive though. I might make my own instead.

    Tax Free

Need to get perfumes. I know it's probably cheaper in Thailand but I have some on me for when I land. (No,I don't wear the stuff!). I've got a few hours to kill at Amsterdam a/p so probably end up buying it there. Ste.
  7. I plan to buy some tax- free goods before I arrive at BKK. I'm travelling via Amsterdam and wonder if it's cheaper there than buying the stuff at a UK airport. Thanks.
  8. Thanks guys. I'm still looking but I've found Qatar at £470 inc tax. Cheers Ste.
  9. Planning on a three week stay in Sept. KLM want £700 which I think is a bit steep. Are there any Cheshire Cats out there that can suggest a better deal ? I use Qatar Airways a lot (great now they have back-seat monitors on planes) but their online-booking website doesn't seem to work at the moment. Thanks. Ste.
  10. Thanks guys. I'm familiar with the Udonmap website, but not checked out mekonmart yet. PSP,thanks for the offer of a beer.I'll take you up on your offer should I be sober enough to venture further than my hotel bar.(But not in a tuk-tuk eh? ) I forgot to ask, does anyone know if the Charoensri has a room-safe ? Ste.
  11. Anyone stayed in a decent hotel there ? I'm planning to stay at the Charoensri Grand, but I just need somewhere that is comfy and close to beer. Thanks. Ste.
  12. Definately no fish there. He was looking in the wrong place methinks.
  13. I always stay at the Solitaire. The rooms are superb and the staff exceptionally friendly to both me and my TG. Go for a Platinum Suite as this has a large jacuzzi.Room service both maid and food are top notch and you get a Bangkok Post placed outside your door every morning. Room safe is huge and there's free wi-fi/internet . I can send emails from my ipaq from my room without any problems. It is a bit of a treck down to Suk Road but the Solitaire does offer a free shuttle to Nana BTS and Robinsons Dept Store. I just tip the driver 20bht and he's your number 1 mate. Another plus
  14. rafaelrod There has been a comprehensive posting on this topic recently. Do a 'search' and you'll get lots of info about it. Can't be more specific because I'm practicing alcoholism at the moment. Cheers ! Ste.
  15. Fair comment ,but not everyone's as handsome as me. Modesty has always been my strong point.
