  1. I'd say if you could give that kind of room, decent size, for under a grand, it'll do well. Besides location, I think most important is have a pleasant, English-speaking front desk staff. Stocked fridge is not needed. Big safe which could hold a small laptop would be nice.
  2. this is an asian thing, same behavior in Korea. Before i can scoot my chair in, the waitress is waiting for my order! I usually just hold my hand up and say 5 minutes please.
  3. I stayed there about 5 months ago. not bad hotel for price, front desk service average, breakfast area average. has nice pool area. room not noisy, but might depend on which side of hotel you stay on. Good location was best selling point tho, 50 steps to Soi bukhao, 1 block off Soi Chaiyapoon and 3-4 minutes to Soi LK Metro. Has car parking area if you need that.
  4. Tr the 2 night packages at the Marriott, across the river. They got a ferry boat to shuttle you across the river where you can catch BTS to Sukhumvit. Hotel is nice, quiet and good for a romantic weekend.
  5. I've been searching airlines for the last month for cheaper fares from USA, but doesn't look like it's gonna happen, despite the lower fuel prices. I think the airlines are fairly full over the Xmas holidays and they are looking at this as an opportunity to maximize profits. One week later in January sees fares about 1100 USD.
  6. I've used their internet cafe downstairs, before. Was wondering if the rooms have internet connections for my laptop? And possibly room safe? Thanks.
  7. JoeKicker, that's a good One...and the devil made him do it! I've blamed the devil on alot of things I've done.
  8. Can't remember name of artist, but my favorite is :All the girls get prettier at closing time"...... I also used to like : "Take this job and shove it!"
  9. I've been going back and forth to Pattaya for years, and never found anyplace serving "SOS" as it's called in the military. (shit on a shingle). I would love to find biscuits and gravy. You may have to get used to the English Breakfasts', with the pork and beans and tomatoes! Try Dave's breakfasts at Canterbury Tales on Soi Chaiyapoon.
  10. i've been using the pataya sports club card for 10% discounts for years. problem is i often forget to use it....especially after a few beers! But many restaurants, bars, hotels accept it. join and they give you a book listing discounts. Also, a website pattayasportsclub.com
  11. Having a jacuzzi adds quite a bit to the regular rate, doesn't it? Some of the newer pools have the jacuzzi on the side of the pool, i.e. Areca Lodge, etc. Of course, not hot water. anyway, I might splurge one of these days!
  12. I stayed there a couple of years ago...not a bad place, kind of small, homey feeling overall with a nice outside dining area for breakfast. Swimming Pool is very small, but view is good from there. I stayed in a regular standard room. I'd be interested to know if your suite has a kitchenette or not. Why don't you give us a report after your stay? BTW, I recall Sportsman is across the street, nice place for a beer.
  13. Just curious, do any of these apartment rooms at AC, have kitchens?
  14. Dave, can't tell from looking at your website, but do you have any rooms with a kitchenette in them? I'll be there in June and need a place for a couple of weeks, and prefer a bigger room, with a kitchenette in it.
  15. You are right, I should have clarified myself a little more by adding I fly the Asian carriers if I can't find a decent fare on United. those bonuses can add up. I also believe some of the UA flights are actually operated by Asian Carriers, and I believe as long as you book thru United, you still get the bonuses even though it's a Asian carrier.
