  3. I just moved to Bangkok myself, and am trying to sort something out. I have been deeling with a guy I found on www.ajarn.com think his name is TOny Dabbs from www.e-insurethailand.com Prices seem very competitive and not too expensive circa 30K
  4. Some Bangkokbank cards do have them - mine doesnt and next time I am in Pattaya I will ask for them to put it on See what happens
  5. Where theres a will theres a way. Typical of the BBC however not getting the whole story.
  6. Ok guys I am used to doing certain things with Banks, and wonder if these facilites are available from Bangkok Bank 1. Standing order from account to another account with the same Bank 2. Regular transfers out of the country - covered adhoc allready but wonder if I can set this up regulalry. 3. Direct Debits for the likes of Bills etc? Thanks Dan
  7. Excellent info guys Can someone tell me the best branch of Bangkok bank to open an account with in Pattaya - and I guess I will still be able to do all the account servicing of the account from a branch in Bangkok? Dan
  8. Thanks Cerberus - who do you bank with? And anyone got any recomendations who I can talk to about Tax etc?
  9. Hi Guys Say I was wanted to send money from THAILAND to the UK. First, can anyone recommend a THAI bank I can open an account with that would allow this. And second where would the currency conversion happen - Thailand or my home country. I am guessing it would be better to get it converted in Thailand but not sure. Anyone got any experience of this. Even better if it was with transferring to the UK Thanks Dan
  10. Personally I stick with CAT5 or wifi for the networking as it is easier, and you can get GigE now. But even 54Mbps Wifi is enough to stream most videos
  11. Bruce / Pete The next thing you guys want is a Network Attached Storage device, I have been looking at getting the linksys NAS200 which is very new but has some great features. It is basically a box with a network port and 2 SATA ports inside plus a number of USB2 ports on the outside. Hoping to get one in the UK as soon as it is available and before my potential relocation. I currently have about 1.5TB of staorage here and most of that is not hooked up to a PC, but always looking for beter faster alternatives. I am guessing it is cheaper to buy the PC bits from Pantip in BKK rat
  12. Very usefull post Pete I have been looking at putting together a MEDIA center PC similar to yous, except I cant seem to to get the cost below about 160,000 BHAT (at an exchange rate of 70 ~ 1). I like the new Core 2 Duo's but they don't yet have the clock speed of the Pentium D's. So looks like I will hang on, also for the HDMI graphics card either that or a convertor for DVI -> HDMI. Next time I am in town, might like a look at your set-up if you don't mind. For the moment, I will stick with my old XBOX and XBMC, same software as Media Portal, only it doesnt do HD. so
  13. looks like a good night I will be in for a drink on friday
  14. I always fly EVA out of LHR and can not fault them. Occasionally check-in is a little slow, but other than that the service and baggage alowance is pretty good. Perhaps I have just been lucky
  15. WOuld love some more info on that BigD Where did you find out about the vacancy, and don't suppose they had any salary details?
