Hi, Sandy Springs is AOK. Bit of noise during July from building works but nothing too serious. You need to get Deluxe rooms on a high floor - great sea views etc. Flipper House - Smack bang in the middle of the action. Looked at rooms there and they were fine and a bit cheaper than the Sandy Springs. Didn't stay there as at that time Oct/Nov 2003 the in room phone connectuions didn't allow you to dial out for an internet connection. NO sea views. Alternatives - Sunshine Vista, Bella Villa Prima. You can't go wrong in any of the four above. Enjoy yourselves!! C. PS - You're too young to go to Pattaya. Piss off somewhere else!

Hi BJ, Enjoy Bangkok! I'll PM you on the 7th and arrange a meet up - looking forward to it. Now I've no choice but to get the bus! If I feel crap I'll do the easy thing and get the taxi - from departures etc. If I'm up for a different experience and feel OK then I fancy the bus. I'm more or less killing time anyway. I'm also travelling light so not much crap to lug about ... It will give me a chance to practice my Thai language skills as well as giving me the chance to say - "I'll never bloody well do that again". No plans are the best plans. You never know I might end up seeing you on the Dynasty bus! BIGD, If I get the bus then I'll become your hero! Well, maybe not ... that would only happen if I hitched it Thanks for the advice guys!!! Hi Roland, I might arrive and just jump a cab ... but then again the bus might be an adventure / different experience. I fancy the bus trip ... I'll let you know how much hassle it is etc if I do it. Some of the taxi no shows / hassles / lunatic drivers are also possible and yeah at 6 in the morning all you want is to be met by a Roller and taken straight to the Oriental. Cheers, C

Hi bongojona, We're going to have to stop meeting like this! My costs are roughly around the same. How does it work out - 50 baht airport fee plus a 40 and a 30 or a 50 for the tolls (can anyone confirm these two tolls - I always forget) plus the meter. With a tip anything between 300 - 350 seems OK to me. Cheers, C

Hi BJ, Thanks for the reply. I'm resigned now to getting the bus. Not so bad an idea -Stick my walkman on and arrive in Pattaya at about 10ish. Sharing a cab would also be OK but will maybe get me in too early and as it doesn't suit anyone else the bus it shall be! I've booked into the Sandy Springs and I'll PM you on arrival and hopefully we can meet up for a beer. The FLB is as good a place as any ... If not somewhere around Soi 13. Hi, For an outside chance, if you have no luck with priceline - maybe one of the web auctioneers - ebay. Or maybe, if you can swing it with the Shangri-la, one of the other board members. If I was in LOS at around the time(when is this for) I would take the Shangri-la for a few nights for 55 plus whatever the admin was ... I'm thinking this because as I understand it once you have your booking you then deal with the hotel directly. Look on the bangkoktonight forum and do a search for priceline as some of the posts there give hints and tips etc for priceline usage. Also Valentino's link looks good but unfortunately it was unavailable - maybe a 404 error type thing ... but I'm sure you could find the site through Google.
