I've only got a work phone, and I'm leaving it behind for my trip in August. Was thinking about buying something like a cheap pre-paid nokia or something so I could use it over there, and then keep for future use. I"m sure I read a posting where somebody got one from Big C or somewhere similar.. Any ideas on ballpark prices? I'm not looking for the latest and greatest, just something cheap and functional..

Just got a deal at the Swiss for 1290 inc breakfast. Direct they quoted their website prices, but went through an agency (several offered this price). I've stayed at the Majestic, and thought the rooms were too small for the money. Never used Nana, seems too old and work out for the other options. Did stay at the Honey Hotel close to Soi Cowboy once (cheap charlie trip), was about 800 per night, big rooms, but same decor from the Naam R&R days.

Has anybody bought one, taken it home, and all is working OK in regards to the regions? I understood that they were no longer locked to any specific region for game playing, but they were for the DVD playback, which would be for the blueray capability. I'm in town in a few weeks, and was thinking about getting one, but only if its going to work when I get it home!!

In BKK, in the MBK Mall there is (or was last time I was there) a cheap printing shop where it was possible to get things like stickers, banners, etc made up. Is there anything similar in Pattaya?

I'm told they are bigger and as the block is newer, they are in better nick. I stayed there last time, and I got a rate of 850 per night for the new block by dealing with them direct. There are some rooms that I thought faced the beach that have balconys. I did not get one of those. (although thinking about it, I think they must face south). I am back next week, and am staying there again. I have not stayed anywhere else in Pattaya, but the Lek is better than the hotels I have stayed at in BKK (Majestic Suites and Honey ).

Lek Hotel. I paid 850 for a room in the new wing. Has a car park by the pool.

Internet cafe/shop to plug in your own laptop?
jnr replied to jnr's topic in General Discussion about Pattaya
cowboy, what end of Pattaya were you at to find these places? I tried around the Lek Hotel and on the Soi 13's. Also, any place you can remember with a decent speed? Thks, jnr -
I'm planning my return trip to Pattaya. Last time I only found one place where I could plug un my own laptop to dump out my mail, which was on 2nd steet, right level with Boyztown. This place ran at a speed of 256, which was very slow when shared with about 12 PC's. I reckon that on my walk down there from the Lek Hotel, I asked in about 20 places, and this was the only one who would cater for taking my own PC, which really surprised me after several trips to BKK, where I could get a good speed. and could basically plug in anywhere. A nybody else know of places where it is possi

how to bargain with hotel VIA E-MAIL ???
jnr replied to potmehut's topic in Hotel and Accommodation Questions
I usually find the best rate I can online, and then I email the hotels directly, and ask them a direct rate, knowing that the agency rate should be bettered. When I get a reply, I then go back, and then ask them if the price they quote is their best internet rate, or do they reccommend booking through a travel agency to get the best rate. Sometimes this will shave off a couple of hundren baht, as they would always prefer to avoid paying a fee to a travel agency. This time I got a price from the Lek hotel which was cheaper than anything I had seen published, but when I asked on thi
