Good size, but I am not sure it offers much over a regular room in the new wing. Location cannot be beat. Safe in room is a plus.

Sorry, put a Samui address on for you. Try this http://www.hotelthailand.com/kohsamet/ There are not a lot of "Hotels" on Samet. A lot of small bungalow operations that may not be tied to a Travel Service.

I have flown to Thailand and Vietnam through Narita twice. Both times, no problems although it can be confusing when you first land. But there are tons of airport personnel there to help. One time I was required to get on a bus and go to another terminal. The other time, it was merely a switch to another gate in the same terminal. You will have to go through security again while in transit, but you do not have to pick up your luggage. That can be checked straight through. No airport tax for those in transit.

BigD Do you know how jammed the coach seats are on these new planes? My experience with Cathay Pacific is that their Biz class seats are great, but coach is designed for smaller Asians? 17 hrs in a cattle car would suck!

Just to advise. Had planned to be on Phi Phi for 4 days at the beginning of March. Switched to Samui, but had a difficult time booking a hotel. Could not book the one I like, and had fun finding one with occupency. It seems evryone who was booked in the Phuket-Krabi area is now looking in the Gulf for their beach vacation. Luckily, I have Pattaya booked awhile ago!
