A Honda Nove is perfect for getting around Pattaya but I like a big bike because I travel to Udon Thani, Chaing Mai, Ubon and Katchanaburi and other interesting places. If you have not done this then consider it, it's a blast. There are a couple of motorcycle clubs that take tours all over and you can go with them. You can also go with them in your car if you wish. Check with the Cotton Club in Naklua on Soi 12 I think it is. About 2 klicks toward the Bay.

I whole heartedly agree. If I'm going out to drink I use the baht bus. I live in Jomtein Beach so usually walk to the bars.

How were his prices? In other words what did it cost for what you rented? I have ridden motorbikes for 3 or 4 years in Thailand and Harleys and Indians here in the states for many years. I currently own a Indian. I have never ridden a motorcycle in Thailand. Just thought that I would try it.

Can someone recomend a good place to rent a motorcyles like a honda shadow or kawasaki v twin? By good I mean fair price and good service. I'll be renting long term.

If it includes tolls and parking for 1600 B. that's not bad. I'll pay that any day. I usually book taxie through the hotel or condo where I stay. Almost all hotels will book you a taxie if you stay there. If you know where you are going in Pattaya you can stand out front at the Airport and haggle a deal. I have negotiated 1000 B. on more than one occasion. Tolls are about 300 B. This kind of deal requires that you know you way around Pattaya. Check out pattayamail.com or a2zpattaya.com. Look for classified ads. Lots of luck.

I have stayed at View Talay and was quit satisfied. The price was less than the 15,000 bht that has been mentioned. Go to pattayaresidence.com you can see for yourself. Click Englis if that is your language of choice. Rates start at 7250 B and got to 22500 B for the most luxurious. I paid about 10,000 B for the month plus elec. I had no problem with the walk in fact I needed it. Baht bus to walking street is 5 B. don't pay more. The max that they can charge is 10 B. Short trips like to walking street only 5 B. VegaMike Right on glad you put in your 2 cents worth. I live on $2,500.00 about 100,00 baht. I do quite well. No bar girls. I don't drink much anymore. Hang out in a few bars and drink coffee. Sometimes I tip a few too many, but not like I used to. I only rent a car when I need to take a long drive with a tg up to Udon or some place interesting. I fish when the mood strikes me. If I can do it so can anyone else. Sounds like you've got it covered.
