  1. Paid a few weeks ago...10/9/05 flight EVA from LAX to BKK RT $715 all taxes included!!
  2. In those hotels that do not have "in room" safes, would you stash all your cash and your passports in the reception safe deposit boxes? Key provided or get your own lock?....
  3. Those coming from the US....if your on the fence about flying from the US to anywhere!!, you might want to get off and book that airfare NOW!! Hurricane Katrina is a Cat 5 cyclone, sure to have a heavy impact on the Gulf oil platforms performance and output. The spike, even further, in oil prices will surely be passed on to your flight ticket.
  4. Buy a "multi-regional" player.....if you can find one.... They have the guts tweeked to "read" any DVD made anywhere. My American purchased DVD player would NOT read DVD's bought in Mexico... I am sure it is the same with DVD's purchased in Asia.
  5. I have read where some of the tailors can be very aggressive about pulling you into their shops..... This could apply to most any other vendors as well probably. What tactics/suggestions/actions would be useful in telling them "NO THANKS" if that is what a person wants......to let them know in no uncertain terms it's NO THANKS???
  6. Raider fan perhaps? Damn I hate that black and silver!!!! Welcome just the same!!!
  7. Best I saw just today (8/11/05) from LAX to BKK was $545 I think, NOT including all the taxes. With the tax added in, it came to over $700 USD. 0130 departure.......Taipei @0610 then on to BKK @ 0830 EVA direct website booking.
  8. You know, I don't put much faith in these websites that advertise the cheapest fares!.... I looked directly at the EVA airlines site and they have EVERYONE elses' price beat by a substantial margin. Sure, there maybe the occasional exception to be had... From LAX to BKK with a 2 hour stop in Taipei, Tawain, the fare, including over $100 USD in taxes was $704.15 This fare is based on departure in October. Travelocity was the closest in fares but still above a direct EVA price. Forget Expedia......over a $1000 for the very same thing!! And....EVA is lower in price from the same departure point than Cathay Pacific, Singapore Air, AA or ANY American based airlines. It really does pay(save) to look around. No affiliation what so ever....just an informed consumers opinion!!!
  9. Wow......I apologize......I found it!!...... When I first did this search......came up "nothing"...... Now that the light of day is here.......I found the reviews. Thank you for your patience !!!!!
  10. It seems that FLB bar is pushing the Resident Garden hotel. (ad banners) I can't seem to find any reviews or posts that concern this hotel. Would anyone have any first hand information about this hotel?.
  11. JohnnyK and Cybers1B....... It was only a question!!.....calm down!! Soi7....thank you for your reasonable tone!!
  12. Thanks everyone!! Now...about US dollars being accepted for food, drink and other activities?? Accepted but a bad idea? Accepted and a good idea? Accepted but, NO WAY, your going to get shorted on the exchange into Bahts' when getting change. I am a US citizen living in a foreign country and I always use the currency where I am, just because of the exchange problems. Perhaps I just answered my own question??
  13. I am wondering how much cash (USDollars) a person should bring to Thailand for daily useage? Sure I understand, depends on the individual needs of the traveler, just a ball park figure will do. Not to include hotel costs as those can be paid by CC card yes? Are US dollars accepted for services? Or, minimum cash and just use ATM machines? Thanks, marcortez
