as many say about competitive room prices, well this is fact but doesnt only occur here in thailand but worldwide. about skytop prices for rooms being compared to Berts or elsewhere that is only comparing the price of our extra big rooms at B850. dont forget that we also have rooms for B650 and B450 plus non aircon for B400 and yes is popular for the budget minded or the tourist who sees a room as just somewhere to sleep. all rooms have new mattresses and they are not the cheap, hard thai ones. So keep in mind that not all accomodation houses are the same because not true. you have to make rooms with the space available to you. Another thing any serious business person knows that you have to put money earned back into your business for improvements and repairs.

Just a quick update for my regular guests and anyone looking for a place to stay here in pattaya. For those of you who havent stayed with us before, you can check us out at www.skytopcenterpattaya.com. For you guys who have stopped over with us, I can tell you now that we have added a bar out front with big screen TV for sports and a pool table for use at no charge to bar users. In the near future, I will be putting the internet into selected rooms for those who dont have a p-c of their own and that internet will be free. Dont be put off with the recent upheavel in bangkok as that was the only part of the country that was affected by the demonstrators and Pattaya is business and friendly as ever. All bookings should be made thru our email address skytop2003@hotmail.com and due to things being quiet discounts on rooms are available for those staying more than 6 nights.

Sky-Top has limited availablity Xmas-New Year
magpie replied to BigDUSA's topic in Hotel and Accommodation Questions
WHO SAID ENGLISH GUYS ARE SLOW ON THE UPTAKE. YES MAGPIE IS THE OWNER OF SKYTOP AND IT IS TIME TO PUT SOME OF THE INCORRECT STATEMENTS HERE IN A FACTUAL CONTEXT. YES I HAVE AS OWNER POSTED COLUMNS ON PPs BUT IF YOU READ THEM THEY ARE ONLY IN RESPONSE TO FORMER CUSTOMERS PUTTING THERE 2 BOBS WORTH IN. I HAVE SAID IN THE PAST THAT AS GUESTS HERE AT SKYTOP, IF YOU HAVE ANY PROBLEMS, SUGGESTIONS TALK TO ME. I TRY TO TALK TO ALL OF MY GUESTS BUT WITH EVERYTHING ELSE I JUST DONT GET TO EVERYONE. SO FAR ALL, THAT IS ALL THE GUESTS I HAVE ASKED IF THEIR ROOM IS OK OR IF THEY NEED ANYTHING PLEASE TELL ME. TO THE "MEN" WHO DONT HAVE THE NUTS TO SAY SOMETHING UNTIL THEY ARE BACK HOME ALL I WILL SAY IS THAT IF YOU DONT LIKE SKYTOP THE SOLUTION IS EASY - GO SOMEWHERE ELSE AND THEN YOU WILL HAVE SOMEONE ELSE TO COMPLAIN ABOUT. TO THE CHAP WHO WAS TALKING ABOUT A FIRE ESCAPE, I AGREE WITH THAT. HOWEVER AS I DONT OWN THE BUILDING THERE ARE ONLY CERTAIN THINGS I CAN DO OR FACE PROSECUTION. SURE YOU ARE THINKING ANY OWNER WOULD WANT A FIRE ESCAPE BUT THIS IS THAILAND NOT UK OR USA. THE OWNERS RESPONSE TO ME WHEN I APPROACHED HIM WAS NO AS HE DIDNT WANT ANOTHER ENTRY POINT IN HIS BUILDING AND HE SAID HE WAS LOOKING AT IT THAT MAYBE AFTER MY LEASE IS UP IT WONT BE USED AS A GUESTHOUSE, THEREFORE NO STRUCTUAL ADDITIONS. ANOTHER THING TO ADDRESS IS THE ENTRY ABOUT THE SHARP INCREASE IN MY ROOM PRICES. THAT WAS A TYPO ERROR DONE WHEN I WAS HAVING THE WEBSITE UPDATED. I TOOK OVER SKYTOP IN 2003 NEARLY 5 YEARS AGO WITH NO RENTAL INCREASE. I HAVE HAD TO WEATHER SALARY INCREASES, ELEC INCREASES, AND ALL OTHER INCREASES. ANYONE COMING TO THAILAND BEST BE PREPARED TO PAY MORE AT MANY IF NOT ALL ACCOM HOUSES. IF YOU GO TO GOOGLE GET ONTO THE PATTAYA PAGES AND IT CLEARLY CALLS FOR A GENERAL INCREASE IMMEDIATELY SO THERE WILL BE SOME WINGERS THEN WONT THERE. THE FACT IS YOU HAVE HAD IT GOOD FOR A LONG TIME COMING TO THAILAND AS THE RENTAL PRICES HERE ARE BELOW MOST IF NOT ALL OTHER ASIAN COUNTRIES. LASTLY I HAVE NEVER GIVEN MY ESTABLISHMENT A RATING ON PPs, AND DONT KNOW HOW IT WAS PUT ON, POSSIBLY BY THE PP PEOPLE BEFORE APPROVING THE POST. TO MY MANY REGULARS, IF YOU ARE PLANNING TO COME SOON, I HAVE VERY LIMITED ROOMS AVAILABLE SO YOU COULD LOOK AT COMING IN THE NEW YEAR. -

PLEASE MENTION THIS OFFER WHEN MAKING BOOKING AND IF YOU WANT TO KNOW ANYTHING ABOUT US YOU CAN VISIT OUR WESITE AT www.skytopcenterpattaya.com. Hotels in the heart of the action
magpie replied to twomp's topic in Hotel and Accommodation Questions
Skytop on 2nd Road is a small guesthouse/internet cafe that has become more popular over the past 3 years after change of ownership. More repeat customers are on the books and since it moved into the old offices of the Tourist Police and was renovated it is quite good. The prices are mixed with 3 different size rooms and the prices range from B450 to B700 and there is a small room for B400 that is only fan cooled, but popular with people holidaying on a budget. With the low season starting on the 1May, room prices can be discounted, all you have to do is ask. On top of that, guests will be given free access to the internet once a day, so you can use it for 10minutes or all day if you wish. Also on offer which is handy for guests is in-house laundry and overseas call facilities have been installed. On top of that there are motorbikes for rent BUT you must have an international or Thai drivers licence for bikes (insurance requirements). Location is great as it is only a 2 minute walk to Sexy Soi 6 and 10 minutes to the shopping centre. You want to go to walking street, all you do is stand on the foothpath and await a Song kew that will take you directly to the action down town. What I like about it mostly is that the owner is very approachable and will attend to your complaints very quickly and if the problem cannot be addressed that day he will move you into another room even if the room is more costly there is no extra cost. Also there is a complaints book on the front desk. -
Just a quick rebutal to minor complaints about my guest house - SKYTOP PATTAYA. Firstly to the subject of room safes. As I have 8 rooms available to rent, I have 4 room safes of which can be moved room to room on request. Of course availability and priority must go to guests that are staying longer than others. I often clear out my own safe and give to guests to use when required. To the guy who complained about it taking awhile to get one to his room. I am sorry but that day I had an important meeting with my landlord to discuss many things. On return to Skytop I put a safe in the room for customer. Some people may ask - why couldnt a staff member do it, SIMPLE as staff are all females they would not be able to carry a safe up/down stairs. And as far as him not having the combination to operate the safe, all he had to do was read the instruction leaflet sitting on top of the safe. Now about the guest who complained about not being met here on his arrival to Skytop. Ok, firstly we close at 2am so on the morning he indicated he would arrive, I sat downstairs from 2am until 4.30am waiting but no arrival, no phonecall. I had previously asked him of all flight arrival details and only got - will arrive at 3am. Now his idea of when a day starts and finishes differs from mine because to me the day starts at midnight (even though it is night time). It amuses me at times when guests stay somewhere and act as if all is ok, but in reality there is something to complain about. Please if you stay here and have a complaint/suggestion please put it to me. Actually today (01March 06) I will go and buy a book and place it on front counter and you are free to write anything you want to about Skytop and I will answer you personally as to what course of action I undertake to remedy any complaints. BUT please if you have complaints about any staff member, tell me ok. Pete (owner - Skytop)

i am staying at the skytop for xmas
magpie replied to sinkorswim's topic in Hotel and Accommodation Questions
I have read some of the reviews on the guesthouse Skytop in Pattaya. I was surprised to find minor negative comments as the place is as good as any to stay in for that price range. First I laughed about the comment on toilet/shower size and you have to remember these places were built by thais who in general are a normally short and not as "well built" as us farangs, therefore what we take as small is normal or big to them. Then the comment about the safe for in room, well the same happened to me in such as I asked for one and was told by reception that she would talk to owner. He got back to me quickly and said he did not have a spare one but will go and buy one that day - and blow me down he did. To the guy that complained about one of the bargirls out front with the music - who do you think you are. How would you like it if someone came into your home and took your tv control off you - not happy I bet. Anyway you will be happy to know that one lady got sacked because of her attitude to a customer so it possibly was your friend, but then again she wasnt your friend maybe she rejected your approach earlier. I am happy with Skytop, the rooms have all you need and Pete says he is looking into providing in room internet use for us who have laptops. Staff friendly. great location and rooms cleaned daily, what more do we want.
