Only a few days ago I booked a ticket to BKK for November 7th with Alitalia.

(But the flights are operated by SN Brussels Airlines (ex Sabena) and China Airlines)

Today I heard on the news that Alitalia is in deep shit!

What will happen if they go bankrupt before I fly? 2guns

Someone knows more about this?

I tell folks these days the best thing to do is buy airline tickets with a credit card. If the airline goes out of business before you fly, not out of the question in today's financial environment, you won't have to pay.

If you didn't pay with a credit card, did you go through a travel agent? You ay want to go back and see about switching airlines.

Echster,

I payed with a credit card. So what do I do now?

Yes through a travel agent, but........... costed me already 150 EURO to change my return date.

So who knows what they will ask to switch tickets?

I wouldn't put too much worries into the possiblity of a bankruptcy. It's just a fancy accounting gimic. United Airlines has been in bankruptcy protection for over a year now and all flights have gone to where it needs to go.

You should only worry about bankruptcies when you hear the word liquidations somewhere in the same paragraph.

amphora,

I wouldn't worry too much - everyone is on the verge of bankrupcy in Italy, all the time, and nothing really ever happens - it is all just a part of the image. :nod

Very much unlike the Swissair story, though, but they are/were, well, Swiss...

Fly over and enjoy. B)
