visitors visa for uk

hi, this is my first post.

Am trying to get my girlfriend to the uk for a visit/holiday.

the home office has given me a huge list of things i have to sent to her to take to the british embassy!

certified photocopy of my passport,

2yrs electricity bills,

2yrs council tax bills,

2yrs mortgage statements

6 months bank statements,

2yrs tax statements (self/employed),

an invitation letter.....I think thats it!!

(IF THERE IS MORE NEEDED PLEASE ADVISE)

If there is any advise/suggestions/help i can get, i would be obliged.

I Am hoping my girlfriend will fly here in late march.

Scroll back a few months and you will find this covered quite comprehensively. The relationship posts hold the most.

2 of the biggies are length of contact together and reason for travel. Any paperwork you send must be recent, three months old will not do.

Just done this a couple of weeks ago. This is an assortment of advice I picked up from other boards and the British Embassy web site: -

Documents (preferably originals - copies to be signed):-

Sponsor Letter to Embassy

VAF1 Form

Copy Passport (sponsor)

Original Passport (applicant)

Applicant's Photo

Land Register Extract (to prove ownership of property in UK)

6 months documentary evidence of the following: -

Bank Statements

Wage Slips

Itemised Telephone Bill (Landline/Mobile)

Emails

Hotel and Flight Receipts? Evidence of firm travel plans if possible

Photographs showing that you know each other and have met

Any cards birthday,christmas or valentines you may send

They will want to look at her bank stuff even if you are going to pay for every thing

 

Other Stuff to deal with:-

Your visitor must satisfy the requirements of the Immigration Rules. He or she must show that:

they are intending to visit for no more than six months

they intend to leave the UK after their visit - Reason to return

they have enough money to support themselves and live in the UK without working or any help from public funds

 

You may wish to produce evidence of your own immigration status in the UK

 

If the visit is for a holiday and you are a relative or a friend, a letter of sponsorship explaining your relationship to the applicant and why the visit is taking place at this particular time may be helpful.

 

If the visit is for a special family occasion (for example a wedding, a birth celebration or an important anniversary) an invitation detailing the event, when and where it is to take place and a letter of sponsorship would be helpful. If the person whom you are sponsoring is not a close relative or is perhaps one of several people invited, it would be helpful to know why the applicant was chosen to attend before others.

 

a letter of sponsorship detailing your occupation and salary and how you will be supporting and accommodating the applicant. There is no need to have this letter attested before a solicitor or Commissioner for Oaths

 

Evidence of your ability to finance the trip, such as copies of your last six months' bank or building society statements and salary slips. If you are in receipt of public funds the entry clearance officer will need to consider carefully how long you will be able to maintain additional people on limited means; you will not be able to seek additional public funds to support the applicant

 

Most applications for a visitors visa are rejected on the grounds of "insufficient reason to return". There are strict requirements that the Thai applicant show substantial evidence to satisfy this "reason to return". Family or children in Thailand are rarely considered. Proof of regular income from legitimate work and ownership of property in Thailand are generally required in order to satisfy the Embassy that they will return to Thailand before the visa expires. Without such evidence the likelihood of refusal is extremely high.

 

All of the evidence was presented in a tabbed and indexed ring binder. Research suggests that good presentation is important. Also good appearance - clothes, hair etc so that your girl looks like a nice girl and not a tart will help (not that I'm suggesting that your girl is a tart you understand). Also if your girl has worked bar, avoid any mention of this or Pattaya etc.

 

On the "reason for return" issue my GF doesn't really have one but was still successful. I just mentioned that I would be returning to Thailand in May and that she would obviously be returning with me and that as she has no friends or relatives here she has no reason to stay.

I know a girl in Thailand who is coming to the UK on a fiance visa soon.She has a boyfriend who she is going to stay with,however on a recent trip to see her in Thailand she told me she wants to come and visit me at my home and probably will not stay with her boyfriend too long and will stay with me.How will this work? Will she be deported if she leaves him? can I be in trouble for letting her stay with me?

If her boyfreind has paid for her ticket and gone through the aggro of obtaining a visa for her. I don't think he will be too pleased with her doing a house swap. If I were him, I would be on to the Embassy bloody quick. He is her sponsor, so she would be breaking the rules and probably never get a visa again.
