Hi has anyone ever stayed in this hotel, I cannot find any reviews about it and was wondering if it's any good, eg: clean, rates, pool, rundown/refurbished etc. passed it on many occasions and will try it if ok in April as I need to stay hidden for a day or two from my usual hotel so that I can butterfly. :P

Hallo ...

I have booked a room at Carlton about 3 years before.

Arrived, went to the room they want give me - and leaved this Hotel immediatly.

500 Baht they want for one night was exactly 500 Baht to much.

May be, they refurbish it complete meanwhile - I don't know.

I moved about 100 yards north on 2nd-Road to Thai-Palace-Hotel.

Nice and clean Hotel.

Price ist about 600 Baht, very guestfriendly. See my review on this page.

Best Regards

Manet

Stayed here 4 years ago,so my info may be out of date, but I got the impression that it was constantly in the process of being refurbished.

It was cheap enough, but annoying little extras-extra baht if you wanted the remote control to the tv etc. Quite a number of long term residents too. Staff were friendly enough.

Obviously had a scam running about the mini-bars. I left mine fully stocked on the last day, went down to check out and was charged for two bottles of water that I hadn't had. OK 90 baht is NOT a big deal, but just one of those annoying little things.

I believe there were some newer rooms in a different wing or on the ground floor, but I found the room quite small and pokey. The bed was extermely soft though, albeit with a loose headboard(but that probably annoyed my neighbour more than me B) ).

It had a pool and poolside restaurant/bar. I don't recall a lift, but I was only up three flights of stairs.
