I just booked China Airlines LAX/BKK round trip for $717.00US. That's as good as it gets price-wise, without a Saturday night stayover. Thai Air wanted $2200.00

My experience with CAL is that the flights generally run on time, the people treat you nicely, and they have great looking flight attendants. Also, they give you slippers which do make your feet feel better on that long haul to or from Taipei. Their in-flight entertainment is about average on the whole, but they have at least one 747 that has the individual entertainment system common on Airbus planes. (Unfortunately, in four trips, they only used this one once.)

The downside is the food: their main dishes are invaribly pork or chicken, and I don't know what they do to them, but they are usually mediocre to inedible. (The side dishes, salads, etc. are OK.) They also get into BKK at 0100, which is a little late, but when I stayed at Nana, action was still easily available at 3:00AM, which is how long it took me to get to the hotel from the airport and clean up a little.

Just a little mini-review. CAL does offer cheap fares, but I suggest you stop at Subway on the way to the airport.

Without being to inquisitive, where did you find your tickiet at $717.00 for CI. The best I could find was on Orbitz at 753.60, plus 19.95 for second day delivery by Fedex. Thanks for any info.....ErnieK

I got it on Orbitz, leaving April 10 E-Ticket, no extra for paper tickec. However, for departure one week later, the price was considerably higher. I have never understood how airlines arrive at their fares, because one gets very wide variations.

You might try china airlines website direct. It may or may not produce a better fare. (China-airlines.com)
