Just been advised by Flight Centre Westgate that Thai airways has refused my request for a window-exit seat on their direct flight Oct 11th.Ticket and taxes fully paid for.Told by T.Cen to request on check-in!

Just wondered if anybody else has had similiar response recently as before it has not been a problem.

Rang the Thai Air office and asked if I could reserve a seat on the 600 but was then told that the 600 delivery was put back a few months and the MD11 was to take it`s place After a bit of talk about it I then asked if they could send me a copy of the Md11 no trouble she said and would put it in the post on the same day.

Next day said plan arrived in the mail .Worked wich seat I wanted and rang them back and asked for seat #31A bit was told that only the Airport could allocate #31A 31B 31j and 31K for special reasons. So settled on seat #32 to BKK and as #32 had already been booked on the way back chose #33A.

So there is my seats all reserved .

Try ringing Thai Air at Auck.

Hope this is some help. Cheers

Normally if your flying tourist class you can't request a certain seat off the travel agent (in business and first class you can) unless there are children involved, but you can at check in. If you have a disability you won't get an exit door seat for obvious reasons.

Just reread your post properly .

Window exit seats that you refer to would be the #31 etc seats.

Fonz I can't quite work your logic out here. The seats you cited aren't the best in cattle class the best seats are row 40 on a MD 11. You can download the seating from the Thai web site for all there aircraft.

Also only travel Sardine class.Whenever I have booked and paid for my ticket I have thenreserved my chosen seat #through Thai Air office.Always when picking up my boarding pass my seat # has been on it.

Wombat thanks for the tip as after 5 yrs of travel to LOS was talked into joining Royal Orchid by flight Centre and Thai Air office.

Big Mike my logic in seat preference is that the first passengers off the plane would be First then Bus. followed by Sardine starting fromseat #31 the exit used would be by seat # 11 in Bus. class.

It seems to me that exit by seat # 40 is over the wing. What thinkest thou.

I did post that Thai sent me a plan of the MD11.

My lift off is on Aug 30 :chogdee2

You wont want 31 then as you will be forward of the screen.

It doesn't worry me cos i take my laptop to watch DVD's.

Booked my ticket and paid for it some months ago for flight Auck/B.kk on Sept.15th. Joined Royal Orchid frequent flyer scheme. Then rang Thai Airways Auckland to reserve my seat of choice, no problem.

I always like to sit at the back, in an aisle seat, also to stretch my legs. and my "thirsty reasoning" sometimes works, in that the drinks trolley is pushed first to the rear of economy, then they work their way forward, giving me my Singha's or Tigers, before the bulk of the other passengers. Of course it does'nt always turn out that way.....Oh well I'm handy to the toilets.

Why sit at the rear when you will be last off the plane at BKK.

Exactly my own thinking, Floyd. Last trip I flew in BA's economy plus class so once the 1st Class and Club Class passengers were off, I was one of the first to get off. I can walk pretty fast so I soon overtook most of those off before me and for the first time ever, found relatively short queues at Immigration.
