Hi Guys

Trying to narrow down the mass of hotels in Pattaya to a few contenders for a Jan/Feb 2006 trip.

Surfed a number of websites and read a lot of reviews and now suffering from information overload, so thought I'd see if anyone here can give me some personal recommendations.

Looking for Hotel or Guesthouse:-

1) No more than 5 - 10 mins walk from Walking St

2) Reasonably clean and safe

3) In room safe

4) Guest Friendly

5) Decent size bed

6) Air Con

7) Willing to pay upto 850 baht per night (but ideally looking for suitable room for less than this)

Pool not important. Restaurant/Food on site not important

Not keen to book somewhere for one night and look when I arrive as I like to have things all sorted before I arrive.

Cheers in advance

Luco

I like the www.pattayarentaroom.com Yensabai condo which is a 12 minute walk to Walking Street. Cost 499 per night. Big studio room with in room safe, fridge, 25" TV, pool. Excellent value for the money.

Pig & Whistle on soi 7 and www.skytoppattaya.com on 2nd Road meet all your requirements except #1. They are about a 10 minute ride somewhat more on a baht bus if theres heavy traffic. Sky-Top is 1 block from Beach Road. I've stayed at both and they are good value.

I would suggest the J-House Hotel as being suitable for your needs and you shall get a room for around 600 Baht per night if you stay longer than two weeks.

The hotel is located on Beach road less than 200 meters from Walking Street. Although, safe deposit boxes are behind reception and not in the rooms i prefer it that way as those coded safes do not strike me as being totally secure.

Why would you want to walk TO Walking St?

You'll have to run the gamut of countless touts and vendors. You'll get all sweaty.

A baht bus costs 10b.

The Haven in Soi 13 meets all your requirements.

It also has a clean pool and excellent food.

You come and go as you please.

Thanks for your help guys.

Good to have a few recommendations based on my specifications rather than reading loads of random reviews.

At first glance a couple of them look like definite contenders.

Pentire - Must admit that I've always been a little suspicious of those coded safes, but I've never had a problem with them before.

Cheers
