Hi again guys, I will be flying out to Pattaya again on boxing day,(Thank Fcuk!!)and a friend of mine has asked me to bring over some real scottish sausages and black pudding along with tattie scones. What is the story with getting this past customs at BKK ? Is it possible or not worth the hassle it entails ? I dont want to let my mate down, but I dont fancy being Fu+&%"D around by some officious jobsworth at the start of my holiday.

Best Regards All,

To try and answer you question,

There was a thread about this on the misty's board a while back. Seems the guys get the meat cryovaced, wrap it well, and carry it in their hand luggage.

I guess if you put it in checked luggage the sniffer dogs get a bit excited. :D

Maybe you should read about the penalties involved for importing raw meat products to many countries. Think its on the customs declaration form you fill in onboard the aircraft before arrival...the one where you should declare your own camera etc.

Then make your own mind up.

When i came over from Oz in Feb this year, my brother , who lives in Patts, asked if i would bring him some sausages. I asked him was it cool and he said yes mates of his had done it before.

I got 3 kilos, vacuum sealed, and frozen. One pack didnt seal properly so i just took 2. Glad really cause 3kg was quite a weight.

Checked on the Thai customs website and anywhere else that had info, and couldnt see any restrictions on meat....didn't get stopped so no problem. But i had to admit i felt

like the guy in the movie "Midnight Express " with ? kilos of hashish strapped to his body at a Turkish airport.

Would i do it again....? .......He'd really want to have a hard on for those snags.

Only meat to import would be mutton bayonet, pork sword, beef bazooka. Anything else is surplus to requirements. :chogdee2

I'm sure mine would be within the wheight allowance. :D :D
