My mate wants to take his 16 year old

daughter to phuket for a couple of weeks.

But he intends to stay there while she

returns home, could somebody please

tell me at what age airlines let youngsters

travel alone, it will be a direct flight and

somebodyat both ends to send/meet her.

Don't have a definite answer but I believe she will qualify as I flew on a domestic flight alone when I was 12.

Just arrange it all with the airline.

When I took my son for a trip to Mexico. I was required to show proof; from the X that it was ok. This proof should be notarized. I found about this 2 hours prior to wheels up. Please, for your own sake do everything well in advance. There is a special form that should be filled out. If you are a widower you need proof of death cert. good luck.

The age limits for "unaccompanied minors" varies by airline. Thai, for example, is up to the child's 12th birthday (and they must pay full adult fares!!). Check with the airline ...... you would need to complete their own documentation in any case.

At that age she will be a YP (young person) I think the airline will offer help at departure and arrival, if requested.
