Hi,

I've found a business class ticket for next March on China Airlines from Gatwick to Bangkok return for £1023. Sounds a good price to me but I have no experience with this airline, anyone ever used them or know anyone who has and what was it like?

Cheers Knorty.

Use them all the time (i.e 5-6 trips a year), I am a gold card member. The business class with China is not a full on business class service (i.e no pod beds). The entertainment system is not as good as emirates and some other carriers.

You will have to change planes in Amsterdam, your Gatwick to Amsterdam legs will be economy class both ways.

The price used to be about £700-£800 pounds which was about right for the service they provide, since they hiked the price it is not worth the extra money IMHO. I now travel economy class with them and use my miles for upgrades.

If you do book business try and get a seat in row 10 (i.e upstairs, most leg room on plane), you can only reserve seat 90 days before departure.

Any other questions just ask.

Enjoy

Quite right Mr He -Tet

It used to be more like enhanced economy and at £700 -800 was worth the money. They then decided to let you use the business lounges and up the price by £200 -300.

If you are flying from the UK to Amsterdam that bit was always economy, not that much of an imposition as its only an hour or less, but not business.

If you can't find anything else it's ok but I would suggest EVA elite/ evergreen is better value and the same size seats - newer planes as well.

Don't get a window seat though as some of them have litle black boxes under the seat in front restricting leg room a little.

Alos Schipol is F****** expensive if you are staying there for any length of time.

I can't speak for those coming out of the UK, but I've flown CI's biz class from San Francisco several times (including today!) and rather like it. The food is good, the service is good, and the seats are roomy enough and comfortable. On the 747-400's I've now found what is for me the best seat available: 17A. It's the port-side window seat in the first row of biz class. You have only a bulkhead in front of you, which gives you plenty of leg room and nobody crowding you when they tilt their seat all the way back. I got a good 8 hours of sleep crossing the Pacific in that seat, helped by 2 Tylenol PM's I admit, but it was pretty good.

On the other hand, I'm also used to domestic US carriers, so anything better than a cattle car with Nurse Ratchit handing out peanuts will impress me.
