Hello All,

Some advice needed please. I have been fortunate enough to have visited LOS four times in the past 2 years, however i have never been to Patts for Xmas and New Year festivities. Havin looked for flights ( from manchester ) - the best price quoted is with Qatar £554.00 with Southall travel. For all the experts out there, is this a good deal ? Or can be better had elsewhere, is there any deals that come out later in the year i should be made aware of ?

I know its a bit early doors but your help would be much appreciated !

I always travel to Thailand in Dec and I get it cheaper than the price you we're quoated. Best thing to do is wait for April to come around, and book then. I got my deal with Eithad for £398 last April for Dec.

That was NOT flying from Manchester, Gatwick. But my mate who I went with flew from Manchester, and his ticket was slightly more.

Most people book there tickets in Apr, due to a lot of airlines giving good discounts around that time.

I think you have to remember Gordon Browns new Green Tax applied late last year which I reckon has pushed prices up by AT least £40 compared to last year. So A £400 tickey is probabl;y now costing at least £440.

My Thai flights for comparable times last year were £420 to £474 this year......a £54 increase and I can only think that the tax is the diffeence.

Also try WestEast Travel who I generally use and are good.

Good point. I'm sure there will be a increase as well, how much... we'll have to wait and see. :D

Most airlines don't have to offer discounted seats for travel outbound between 15-25 Dec. If you are travelling on Qatar (or Emirates/Etihad) between those dates I would take the price on offer.

Also bear in mind, it is one thing to have availability between 15-25 Dec but quite another for the return journey during the first week in January.

The only decent reason to put off booking is to see what prices/routes Air Asia's new low-cost, long-haul carrier will be offering to Kuala Lumpur.

The additional 20 quid tax has pretty much been offset as airlines reduce the fuel surcharges they had in place last year.
