Recommended Posts

Hello folks:

Tactical Krav Maga Self Defense Workshop in Pattaya:

Krav Maga is the Self Defense Martial Art originally developed in battle tested fashion for the Israeli Special Forces, and has since been taken up by the FBI, CIA, LAPD, and many other Military Special Units and Police Forces World Wide.

Krav Maga teaches very simple and basic but extremely deadly Self Defence techniques, that are aimed the the average person to teach them very quickly, a proven way of defendign themselves from unarmed and armed atttack.

In Krav Maga who learn basic strikes to defend yourself, escapes from grabs, chokes, headlocks, bearhugs, and defence against knife attacks, baton/stick attacks, and gun threats.

Our Pattaya workshop is aimed at beginners both male and female who want a basic crash course in self defense. It is being taught by Carl Halley from Australia who is one of the Worlds Experts in Self Protection and Krav Maga, and currently is contracted to trained NSW Police, Federal Police in Asutralia, as well as Military Units, and also runs a large civilian self defence school in Sydney.

The workshop is next saturday and sunday in Pattaya, 14/15 July from 1 - 5pm each day.

Dang. Krav Maga is awsome. Though I find it comical to hear it refered to as a "defensive". I understand that technicaly it is, but then again it's the most agresive fighting form I've ever seen. I wish I was there for this. I would def recomend this to anyone who has the slightest inkeling to go. Good luck man :)

Thank you very much Adernaline Junkie.

Yes its a very aggressive style, sure it comes from the Israeli Army, and they are pretty aggressive. agree or disagree with the politics but you cannot deny those guys know how to fight aggressive.

Yes, Krav Maga is a good system, and "Attack is the Best Form of Defense"... of course we do everything to avoid a confrontation, walk or run away, or try to talk the aggressor down. But if it looks like aggressor is going to attack you, or your outnumbered, then Pre Emptive Attack and Keep Attacking until attacker is no longer a threat, then escape, call the police, etc etc...

There are a few versions of Krav Maga, and I did 3 of them myself, and I find Tactical Krav Maga the simplest and the best.

The Actual founcer of Tactical Krav Maga, was 9 years in the Yamam, and did 100s of missions, and has serious hands on experience, then he spent 2 years training Yamam operatives, Krav Maga. For these guys its life or death, and what we teach is exactly as he taught them. Strangely it is very simple, no secrets, nothing fancy, but it works!!!

Anyway Pattaya workshop is this weekend, and once that is finished in a few weeks, we will start a regular weekly (probably mid week, 2 hour class) in Pattaya, (since I live here) and later BKK on weekends.

If anyone wants info please join or email newsletter on www.kravmagathailand.com or email me gerry at selfdefence.ie and I ll let you know when we are up and running for regular classes.

I want to get a good dedicated group going. Physical skill, ability or fitness is not a concern, we will teach you and bring you along skill and fitness wise over time, but I do want 110% keen with a good open attitude to learn Tactical Krav Maga Self Defense and make it fun too.

I think in Pattaya today this 1 - 14 july issue on Page 13 or 14 there is a write up on Krav Maga.

I am presently taking Yoshinkan aikido and might add this to my repertoire if time/finances/etc permit. Not too interested in a workshop at this time (still recovering from a strained shoulder in aikido) but regular classes would be appealing as long as they don't clash with my aikido classes or other commitments ...

Will check out the website shortly.

Hi Damon

yes, we will have regular class in Pattaya, and will let people know with 2 - 4 weeks.

The only way to get this information which we will send to our email monthly newsletter list, is to go to bottom of home page on our web site and fill in your email address in the web form at bottom of page. then your opted in for our news letter.

See http://www.kravmagathailand.com

when we start, I am going to start it as a Beginners course, I am looking for keen people who are interested and willing to learn. I am not worried about fitness nor skills, that we will help you all develop over time, and everything will be done at your own pace and fitness level. Student well being and safety is No 1 with us.

There are 10 units in the Tactical Krav Maga Curriculum, and we will base the classes on the units, with lots of very interested drills, and self defence situations. This will not be like any traditional martial art, it will be informal, fun, fast moving, and really our job and goal is in teaching street self defence . Simple easy to do techniques, that are very effective.

In Tactical Krav Maga, we try to avoid trouble, talk our way out of confrontation, walk away or run away. Only when our "back is to the wall" and we got no other option, and it looks like attacker is going to attack, we Pre Emptively attack, and keep doing so until attacker is no longer a threat. sometimes one strikes does this very well!

We are interested in "Result " not now the technique looked, or do we strictly correct people on things like "your hand is 2 inches in the wrong place, straighten your stance up, why did you not wash your Karate suit...10 knuckle push ups, and another 10 for not calling me Sensei!".

we treat people as adults, and if anyone over 18 to 80 want to learn a good basic proven simple of self defence, while getting fit, seeing improvement in themselves both physicall and mentally, and have good fun and meet knew people along the way, then you will enjoy our Tactical Krav Maga Class.

I project a 2 hour once a week mid week class in Pattaya, and Saturday last afternoon in BKK.

Again go to www.kravmagathailand.com and sign up for that Newsletter...all details on future classes will be reveal very shortly!

Also if you go to our links page, and go to some of our other Tactical Krav Maga partner schools web sites, there is loads of information on there too.

Cheers

Gerry

just a question, could I kick someone's ass pretty fast after joining this class ?

not that I feel it would be too much effort to put some of these other guys on their ass, but I just wanna be able to do it really fast and with style

Style??? LOL??? No we don't do the Style part... will teach you to destroy someones nuts with a spike toe kick or a knee, it will look like crap and lack style, but sure will get the job done!

As for kicking someones ass, assuming its the real thing, you cannot walk away, run, nor talk the attacker down... and your legally and morally justified in kicking the attackers ass, in an act of pure Self Defense....

To be totally honest, its 80% mindset, and " I am going to beat this guy and win, and no WHATEVER, it takes to protect myself, no matter what!!! " that the attitude that will see you through!

As for me, easy to say that, at this Krav Maga stuff over 5 years, but 23 years in total in kickboxing (with a few year long sabbaticals here and there of course!), so the techniques will come... but its attitude, and having worked the nightclub doors on and off a little over a few years ( never really enjoyed it too much, and gave up, after spending 3 days at a Summer Rock Festival watching a VIP area, with 2 bodybuilders who talked non stop in a dour montone and grunts about steriods and how much they could squat for 3 days non stop, being in a nut house would more fun! LOL!!), some of the hardest bouncers, never trained in anything, maybe a bit of boxing or hard karate, got a few basic punches down, some lifted weights a bit, but their attitude was pure "killer instinct".. and again that saw them through some very nasty situations.

So if you make your mind up to really do it and win, you probably will. The KM just gives you the tools to do a better more efficent job.

Like you could have the best Drill in the world (km) but the electric power supply is very very weak (serious lack of will to win, lack of win no matter what happens, lack grit and determination), then the drill (krav maga) will not be of much use.

Some say (not in Krav Maga, but many top Self Defence experts who have seen plenty of live action), that to defeat and attacker, then you must become more, violent than the attacker himself.

In fact Tactical Krav Maga... we attack first. defend is the fall back option No 2 on the list. and if you have to fall back to No 2 choice Defend, you have not done your job properly on No 1 Choice... ATTACK!

See...

In fact Geoff Thompson www.geoffthompson.com who is one of the pioneers of Reality Based Self Defence in not ony the Uk but the world, and indeed Geoff was fairly notorius bouncer in rough tough discos in the Uk. He also said HIT FIRST! and that after distracting the potential attacker with a brain engaging question. For example Attacker is Verbally getting aggressive, shouting, read to launch his bomb, Geoff would might say " relax mate, take it easy, Did you see the Celtic match on Tv last night?" for a sec attacker thinks...what the F is he on about??? but as Geoff is finish the final sounds of " night " he is launching a well trainied, hard fast right cross at attackers chin ( KO Point) from about 18 inches away. BOOM! usually game over for potential attack from violent thug.

I like Geoff work myself, got some excellent DVDs, and of course today, he has moved on in the world and is an award winning author, very spiritual in nature, and next year a major movie on his life story is coming out. Very nice man, never met him, but he always personally answers my emails about training and what he teaches, and posts on the DVDs over here to Pattaya. Thats very nice of him, since I am sure next year, he will be pretty famous, to the general public when movie is out. go 2 friends training on his Master Instructor course as we speak.

Yes so highly recommended http://www.geoffthompson.com

excellent. we re running the beginners workshop tomorrow and sundday 1pm Tony Trade Center 3rd road.

so be 2 weeks or so when we have details on the ongoing Tactical Krav Maga classes. and probably start with 4 weeks ish.

when I start the ongoing classes, going to take it from a begineer point of view, and work up from there. but will not be boring, as we add in plenty of variety and drills, and vary the pace of the class.

actually if anyone wants to read up on Tactical Krav Maga more.

go to http://www.tacticalkravmaga.com.au and have a look then go to the Instructor Link page and look at the Certified Instructor and other linked schools web sites, they all got good info on there, and give you an over view.

as I said before, eveyone works on there own pace, fitness and skills level. There is people training tomorrow in their mid 60s which is great to see, all the way down to late 20s. One of my best students attitude wise was 76 - 78 ish... he gave 110% and had courage and determination. his age did not allow him to knee nor kick to groin too good ( we only kick low in Tactical Krav Maga), however he develop a very very strong Palm Shot (chin jab, some call it tiger claw, this strike was taught as one of the main strikes to attack with to WWII Commandos, and the behind enemy lines in occupied europe agents the allies had... SOE or OSE or something like that they were called)... its a very strong strike, and allows up to hit hard without damage to hand...
