I'll be arriving in Thailand January 25th, I plan on staying 2 Days in Bangkok & seeing the sights with my Thai Girl & then were going to Isan & visit her parents for 3 days & then head back to Bangkok for one night & then were going to travel to Pattaya, I have reservations for 6 nights, but that leaves me about 1 more week to check out some other place, I know "Phuket" or "Chang Mai" are the norm, but was wondering if anybody had a week to go somewhere, where would it be?

Is there anywhere realitively close to Pattaya, that would be interesting to see & just relax, with the old lady?

I would suggest that you either go to Chang Mai directly after you visited your girlfriends family in Isaan, (there are some good bus lines or you could fly from Korat), or that you go down and visit Ryoong and the islands on the southeast cost, (Coh Chang among them), lt´s a beautiful area.

I would not recomend to go to Phuket because December-April is high season in Phuket and the airfare as well as the prices to/and in Phuket are a lot higher than to what they are in the summer.

A sure thing to do in Bangkok is to take your girlfriend shopping at Patunam, (the shopping district were all the street vendours by there things, dirt cheep), then take her out for drinks at the sky bar, (you have to reserve a table), at the Banyon tree hotel and then dinner at the Sangri la Hotel, (reserve a table at their buffe`, 1200 bath and worth every penny, and they serve all kinds of food so even if your lady is very Thai/Isaan in her tastes for food, she will love it), and if you have some time over you can either take another drink in the Jazz bar at Sangri la or take one of the free ferry boats across the river for a drink at the hotel there, all very romantic! She will love you for ever and tell all her friends about it time and time again.

Good luck and have a good time!

No you won't. There are no commercial airlines that currently service Korat.

The airfares to/from Phuket are no higher in the high season than they are in the low season. The seats just get booked quicker, that's all. Given the dire predictions for the forthcoming tourist season in Phuket it is highly likely that you'll be able to pick up some hotel bargains in March.

The hot, sweltering clothes market that is Pratunam is a nightmare and has long since been replaced by the aircon luxury of Platinum shopping mall on Petchburi as the place for Thais to pick up cheap fashion clothing.

then take her out for drinks at the sky bar, (you have to reserve a table), at the Banyon tree hotel ,

The Sky Bar is at Lebua State Tower, the rooftop bar at the Banyan Tree is called the Moon Bar. Reservations are only required for the adjoining Vertigo restaurant.

and then dinner at the Sangri la Hotel, (reserve a table at their buffe`, 1200 bath and worth every penny, and they serve all kinds of food so even if your lady is very Thai/Isaan in her tastes for food, she will love it)

She'll think that you're an idiot for paying 1,200 Baht ++ for a bowl of somtam.

and if you have some time over you can either take another drink in the Jazz bar at Sangri la

There is no such bar as the Jazz Bar at the Shangri La.

Apart from that, all good advice, whilliam. :bj2

You could go to Koh Samui.

I have taken a girl to Koh Chang and had a great time wish I had stayed longer the 3 nights.
